It uses special Polaroid instant slide film. I used to use alot of it when I still did 35mm slides for professional presentations; the blue high-contrast and black and white especially allowed one to do last minute changes for things like corporate retreat presentations off in the boonies. I could, for example, redo Tuesday's presentation based on discussions from Monday, even if the nearest professional lab was miles away.
For general use, the quality of the color slides is so-so, and I believe it uses additive color; at any rate, the slides look glaringly out of place when intermixed with E6 slides. My processor has sat in a box unused since computer-based presentation software became available. Of course, the film may have changed in the meanwhile.
