Portrait/Glamour protography of full figured women

Dave Martin , Jul 03, 2000; 12:29 a.m.

Hi

I'm looking for some hints of portrait/glamour/nude photography of full figured women.

My wife is full figured and fairly heavily pregnant too. We are looking to do some shots to show off the 'bump' but all the books/images I have seen feature women who are to put it bluntly, skeletal. The sort of poses suitable for thin women are just not suitable. The only full figured examples I can find are eithe shots of grotesquely fat women on hard core fat fetish sites (not quite what my wife has in mind) or plus models sites which are all fashion shots and showing off the clothes more than the woman.

Any suggestions?

many thanks in advance.

Cheers Dave

You should check out one of the retrospective books on Irving Penn's work. He did an entire really beautiful set of nudes of Rubenesque women as an antidote to the skeletal fashion models. Joyce Tenneson has done some pretty ethereal work with a very sturdily built model as well.

Don't know if it's at all what you're looking for, but there's an interesting link off Ctein's web site. Try http://www.candydarling.com/lte/

Visit a bookstore or library that has a decent Art section and check out some of the poses from artists specializing in fine art of the earlier times. You will find some ideas, I'm sure. Best wishes on your upcoming event!

I was involved last year in art directing a photoshoot with large model. It was for a national ad campaign that ran in Vanity Fair and Talk magazine.

If you want more info or comments, email me directly.

I am a full figured woman and had professional photo's taken for my husband. I wanted something sexy but not gross. I wore a red teddy with lots of cleveage and used a red boa. Did not show anything below the waist and I didn't need to - the look on my face said it all! He loved them.
