Minolta Camera Jamming

Justin Block , Mar 04, 2009; 11:19 p.m.

Every once in a while my camera james up and i can not advance the film. I fix it every time by taking a penny and turning the screw underneath the camera under the film advance lever. Any ways to fix this? Whats really going on?

That screw is where an auto winder would attach. You screw the auto winder into the tripod thread and male prongs fit onto the female slot of that thread to turn the film advance. You cannot advance the film with the lever if an auto winder is attached and turned on. There is also a small contact by the battery plug and the tripod screw. That is to let the camera know that an auto winder is attached and to signal to it. If that contact is dirty or grounding out that may be the problem. It may be some other problem in the electronic circuit that is telling the camera that an auto winder is attached and turned on. If that is so, there is not much you can do about it except to have it professionally checked which may cost more than the camera is worth.
