I see on the US site they still have all the usual suspects listed right up to the 1V, but on the Canada site all their
film SLRs are listed as archived products. Vistek doesn't list any Canon SLRs except one oddball model I've never
heard of before. Is it possible Canon Canada has discontinued all the film SLRs in the normal lineup? I would guess
their is still some market for the 1V and maybe 7N camera, but who knows what Canon Canada is thinking.
Anyone confirm any of this?
It blows me away how many digital models are listed on the US site. I mean the XT came out how many years ago
and its still listed?! And same with the 30D.

Canon have now finished making all film cameras and the production lines have been dismantled. All film cameras now sold as 'new' are from warehoused stock: once they have gone, that's it!

Where did you hear that one, Gary?

I personally have a hard time beleiving that the 1V would be discontinued. As good a digital is, it just does not have the same feeling as transparencies. I can see the other models being (EOS3, EOS7) but not the 1V.

Another thought, wouldn't distribution in North America be the same. There is no 1V-c for Canada. I really hope that there is no teeth to this rumour

Part of the answer may be:
- how could "new film camera" sales compete with the flooded, "used film camera" market?
I am stuck trying to imagine why anyone would consider a new film camera today. Example, the last time I saw a new EOS3 for sale @ Henry's, it was near the $1700.00 mark (before tax). AT that time, "minty" used ones were available in the $600.00 range.
I think the 1V is currently listed @ B&H around the $1700.00 mark...I recently saw a 1V-HS @ KEH (E+) for under $1000.00 (and a "LN" EOS3 for less than $350).
If the retailers can't move new film cameras, why would Canon Canada keep them in their system?
Great time to buy a 35mmSLR! I just hope Canon maintains parts and service for at least some of their EOS film cameras.
Cheers! Jay

OK, there is a decent used market for 3's and 7's. Alot of people no longer need a 1V and a 3. But how many people have given up their 1V completely? I did just sell my backup EOS3, and the price I got made the sale barely worth it (I can buy a decent filter with the procedes). But I just don't see people giving up their 1V's. At the same time, the market for the 1V-HS has shrunk considerably. Digital (likely for publication, so not much striking detail needed) able to busrt 100 shots or film, able to run through a roll of film in 3 seconds. I can see Canon discontinuing the motor adapter, but not the 1V
