Hello,
I have the EOS 50e and I am looking to buy the BG-50 grip for this. The grip takes AA batteries as well and is probably the best solution in cold climates for me (usually around -10C in winter, can go till -28 or -30C). Even in -5C, I have observed that on my EOS 5, the flash just won't work and the camera hangs, even with a new 2CR5 battery (but works alright when in doors or when it is not as cold). EOS 50e wouldn't be too different though I have not tried its flash yet.
Now, I see that there are a few options on the famous action site. Some sellers are providing brand new grips in original box. I have contacted a few and they have declared the grips to be genuine Canon. And buying from the bay can give me a new grip for less than half of BH's price.
Now, I have little experience on the bay. Do the above grips look good, in the sense that should I be worried about counterfeits? Do counterfeits even exist in this case? Any other general advice regarding the authenticity of the grips before I bid for one?
Thanks.

No fool would bother with a counterfeit accessory for a camera discontinued in the last millennia. The fleabayers are merely desperate to off a low demand and difficult to sell accessory.

If you are interested, I would be more than happy to sell you my 'cold weather' Elan IIe (50e) gear. I have (2) BP-50s, (2) anti-fog eyepieces, and (1) 4 cell 'low temp' battery pack. I have used them in Yellowstone NP during winter. Performed well in subzero temperatures. Sene me a PM if interested.

Puppy Face: Well, that works in my favor then! :D
Gary, thanks for the tip, I think I will order a new one from the choices.
Mike, thanks for the offer.
I love the 50e though, specially its interface of dials instead of push buttons and its eye control focus. The exact thing I kind of not like in the 1N and EOS 5 (yes, yes, I know the latter are advanced and pro cameras, but still).
Thanks.
