shutter count on a 7D

bruno gaurish , Nov 30, 2011; 06:50 a.m.

Hi folks Just got a used 7D body. I want to know how many shots it took. Can't find any software online to check the shutter count, exept the "gphoto2" thing ( http://www.twam.info/software/read-out-canon-eos-7d-shuttercount-on-os-x) that i don't understand at all (for linux gig i guess?) I have a mac and a window computer, the old 40dShutterCount.app doesn't work for the 7D Any clue? Thanks

Search the archives. There seems to be no software available that give you a reliable shutter count. Besides that, why is this info so important. Whatever the result the shutter can fails after 10 or 100,000 shots, so why bother?

The only viable shutter count solution for the 7D is the Linux one.

Thank you guys for your answers. Well too bad there are no software for the 7D; i like to know how many click my camera has since, yes, it can fail anytime but still, it has been tested for 150 000 clicks, and i shoot a lot!
Wish i knew how to deal with the linux thing...

bruno, that link you have in your original post shows you exactly how to get gphoto2 up and running on a Mac with very little trouble.

Yes, thanks, i have download the software gphoto2 and then the Homebrew. I just don't know what to do with it, i don't understand nothing about the "terminal"and all these funny lines...
It seems like it is not just an ordinary software that you install in your application folder and just run.
Anyways, i think i'm gonna live with the mystery of my 7D shuttercount
