Important: please keep your image under 700 pixels wide/high for in-line viewing, and please try to keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc).
Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Thursday threads are right here. Remember: only one image each week!
Happy Thursday to everyone! (An early start again, but my eyes are getting heavy) I've noticed lately that some of the Nikonistas have ventured over to check out our weekly thread and have contributed some kind words. I know I'm guilty of wandering over there to see the Wednesday photos. Honestly, I love both of these threads. I can't participate in the Nikon threads, but I enjoy viewing the photos. So, I'm curious to how many people post photos in both forums. If you happen to have equipment in both camps and regularly contribute to both forums let us know, although I'm kind of jealous that you get to look forward to two photo threads per week.
So this week I stepped out of my element a bit. My brother-in-law is the head chef at a nice restaurant here in Louisville, KY, known as Hillbilly Tea, and asked me to take a few photos of their main dishes for their website. Lupo makes this stuff look so easy week after week thatI thought it would be cake, no pun intended. But I was wrong; it was quite difficult and I have a newfound respect for food photographers. That being said, I will probably be doing more of this in the future, so if you have any tips, recommendations, or links to helpful sites, shoot me a message.
Pork belly, fried egg, and corn pone. Amazing.

Caught a little high school basketball this week. In spite of the miserably lit gym f2.0 and ISO 3200 once again proved to be the magic ticket to a decent number of shots.

No time for the camera this week, so one more from the Daytona 24 hour race the previous weekend. This one is part of the narrative of the race in my mind - day turns to night, lights come on, and 13 hours of racing in the dark is about to commence.

I too look forward to the Wednesday Nikon thread each week even though I cannot participate. Amazing work! But it is disheartening to see them get 6 pages of material by 9am, whereas we struggle to hit 6 pages at all. Why is that?
I have precisely zip that I'm proud of this week, so I'm cheating and going to the archives (gotta help keep our numbers up somehow).
