Again..signs your photo habit may be getting out of hand

C'mon...fess up....
While you don’t give much thought to whether or not your shoes and belt match, you select ‘just the right camera strap’ to match the occasion
You wear your light meter around your neck and and rationalize...it's stylish
Wondering what type of art project you can make with all the empty 35mm film spools
Taking a camera with you to church on Sunday…religiously

I used five cameras to shoot this air show.
My assistant (son) is holding them for me

Having too many cameras. I spent an hour lastnight looking for a camera I thought was a Canon for some reason. Turns out I spent an hour looking for the Nikon FT2 that was sitting on top of the camera bag all along.

Having too many cameras and too many formats to choose from so I take a minimum of 3 cameras, a DSLR, 35mm film, a medium format camera and sometimes a large format as well 'just in case'.

  • You advance-ordered and waited weeks to get a coffee mug that looks like one of your lenses.
  • Most of the reading material in your home is photo-related (magazine rack, bookshelves, and 'throne room').
  • Your monitor is larger than the family TV.
  • You're on a first-name basis with your UPS and FedEx delivery people.
  • You named any of your kids 'Ansel', 'Henri', 'Minor', or 'Dorothea'. Pets count too.

Peter, your son's grin suggests he might have heard the words: "Someday, son, all this will be yours." :)

I've forgotten how to sleep. I stay up taking, processing, and thinking about photos and related matters.

I had a "book boxing" event recently. Not quite a "book burning" session, but I emptied a small bookcase that has sliding glass doors. Every book (about 40) went into boxes, with lenses and camera gear taking their place on the shelves.

I thought of the movie, "Fahrenheit 451" while I was making the swap. It was then, while placing the lenses on the shelf, I realized I also had Dustin Hoffman's "Rain Man" in my head: "f2.8 Zoom here...yeah...definitely f2.8 Zoom here, f2.0 Macro there...yeah...f2.0 Macro...!"

If anyone visits me at the "Asylum", will you bring some camera gear for me drool over?
I promise, I will only drool in my cup, not on your camera.

You meet a new girl, but instead of asking for her phone number, you recite your favorite homebrew developer recipe.

I am cool with having a bent right hand ring finger nail...from holding/gripping my camera so often. I think I am making a fashion statement, while others ask me what happened to my nail? ;)

And instead of a golfer's tan, I rock the photog's tan...strap mark on my neck.

"... out of hand"? Inconceivable!
