Carousel projector uneven light

Andrew B , Jan 29, 2012; 01:16 p.m.

Hi all, I just bought a Kodak Carousel 750 and it is all in working order. Well, the focus knob doesn't work because the gear is cracked, but I managed to get the lens out and can adjust manually. The only problem is ueven light on the slide, there is a bright spotlight / hotspot on the images. Anyone know why this is? Something to do with bulb or mirror alignment? Other than that is in great shape thanks.

Make sure the condenser lens and heat filter are in place and the lamp is seated in the socket correctly.

I have one of these but the thing is so noisy I'm afraid to turn it on sometimes.

A noisy fan in a Kodak Carousel projector is very easy to fix. It needs either a new belt or the fan itself is worn and should be replaced.
The internals of almost every Carousel slide projector are about the same. Those service manuals you pointed Andrew toward will show you how to repair/replace the fan and belt.

Thanks for the link Harry, not sure how I missed that I checked the micro tools site and just got a 750H. Will have a look, I checked the lamp and it seems to be in place so will have to look at the condenser lens and heat filter. Thanks again one and all, will update with how it goes.

The condenser lens and heat filter should be readily visible in the same compartment as the lamp.

Charles, just saw this message a tad too late, I needn't have taken the base off. Looking in the lamo compartment, I am guessing the gaps to the left of the lamp are where the condenser lens and heat filter are supposed to be?

Just found a condenser lens for a 750 (amongst others) on eBay, can anyone confirm that it is missing from this projector? If so any tips on installing? Manual makes it sound like it just pulls out / in? But doesn't show exactly where. Thanks.

Back again, hopefully someone can help... have attached a diagram from the manual. Is this the same part as the photo I posted above? In which case I am missing a front lens, heat glass, and rear lens?
