Fed 2 in the Neighborhood Bazaar

Subbarayan Prasanna , Mar 29, 2010; 02:03 p.m.

I managed to get the helical thread right on the Industar N26M after dis-assembly. It fits and focuses smoothly now. I also adjusted the Range Finder to tally with the distance scale on the lens. took a walk this morning to the bazaar about 2 Kms away from home. Made these test pictures around 9:30 this morning. The sky was heavily hazy; there was less direct light. But the Summer is on here and the day maximum goes up to 37 Celsius!

I managed to clean up all the fungus and dirt from the lens. But the etchings and scratches remain. Despite those the lens seems to perform well. Used Nova [ORWO] NP22 film and shot mostly at 1/125 sec and f/11. Here are some samples.

I tried to capture some activity in the Bazaar without any particular theme.

View from the Bus Shelter alongside

I sat in the Bus shelter for a few minutes and tried to figure what the waiting commuters would see. A lazy approach that works when you don't have a theme to deliberate.

View from the First Floor

There is a two storeyed building with shops on both floors. I climbed up to get a more interesting angle. The curved cornices on the temple and old style details are starkly in contrast with the other elements in the picture.

General Store on the First Floor

I buy a lot of utility things from here. The store sells Kodak and Konica color film. If you buy a ten pack they give you a 15% discount from the price of a single roll. I also buy button cells here for cameras and watches; they cost Rs 5 each [about US$ 0.10].

Bus stop and vendors

Subbarayan Prasanna , Mar 29, 2010; 02:22 p.m.

Commuters seem to make good customers. The evening run is better, as people tend to buy more on the way home, especially fresh fruits and veggies.

Vendor by the auto-rickshaw stand

This makes another point of clustering for these traders. Auto-rickshaw drivers also generate business for tea shops and snacks.

Missed the next picture.

Unloading veggies & fruits

This is a chain outlet for a farmers' cooperative. It is about 20 years old; it was formed to by -pass the middlemen whole sale traders, who were depriving the farmers of their due share of profits. The Cooperative has benefited both the farmers and the customers by keeping the prices steady over a band.

And the last one.
