I recently attended a get together with some of my coworkers on my way home from up north last weekend. I took a digicam along, but I also put my Yashica A through its paces. It did not embarrass me in the least. The only issue that I had was probably from using an expired film or the film that may have been exposed to some heat as the dyes in one or two frames may have run. I started the roll with my father in it, and there was a band of dark blue across the bottom of the frame. There were other frames that were perfectly normal. This frame was already cropped in to take the blue off the bottom.

Then, my friend Rick brought his big baby Mastiff Bronson to the party.

The property backed onto the Pefferlaw River, and it's quite nice back there.

Although this camera only comes with the basic set of shutter speeds, it doesn't let me down. I really don't give it enough work. The funny thing about the jet engine in this pic is that this is farm country. There are no jets anywhere close to here.

Great shots, Rob. Although the A was the more basic of the Yashica TLR's it is, none the less, a very capable picture taker. Glad to see you giving your Yashica A a workout.

Which version do you have, Rob ? Black or grey ?
I kinda like the OOF areas of the Yashikors, especially for closeup portraits... a bit swirley in the corners, but pleasing.
Love the mug shot of Bronson.

Good series, Rob. I like the Bronson portrait very much. A fine looking picture. That jet engine in the middle of nowhere is very strange, indeed.

I picked up one of those and use it while traveling, 'cos it's so light and easy to pack away. It's very basic but there is nothing at all wrong with that lens. I only wish that the viewfinder weren't so dim.
Good shot of Bronson -- you remembered to correct for parallax, which I still forget sometimes.

Rob, Some fine results to be sure but I think your bluish streak may be from a loosely wound roll exposed to the ambient light. Was the photo of your father the last on the roll or in the middle? If it was the first perhaps the roll was loose before you inserted it. Perhaps increasing the tension (bend it a bit) of the take up spool would solve this problem. While you are at it bend the spring on the feeder spool. Couldn't hurt. Best, LM.
