We've Got Wind...

Rick Drawbridge , Sep 04, 2010; 11:05 p.m.

Here we go, hot off the press. A couple of pics taken just after dawn today, with the sky promising an onslaught. Our reigon is famous for it's unusual cloud formations, particularly this "bow" which warns of gales rising from the nor-west. I shot four frames to end a film in a Spotmatic, using a Vivitar 20mm f/3.8, left the film for a 1-hour process at 9.0am. I append a couple of pics from the scans. Film was Fuji Superia 400. Nice lens, that old Vivitar...

It's been a bad weekend in New Zealand, with one of our cities severely damaged in a 7.1 magnitude earthquake, 9 skydivers killed in a plane crash, and outside the wind now rising to a promised 140kph with torrential rain. I'd better get this away before we lose the power....

OT: One of my former music students is going to school for one semester in the Christchurch area. Sent an inquiry to his parents to see if they have heard anything from him yet.

Nice cloud photos, Rick. Hope things improve "down" there. Just saw some news pictures of the
damage in Christchurch and it looked bad. Luckily no one was killed.

Jeez, I wish we had clouds like that here in the colonies.....

Rick, I hope things are better for you. I'm so sorry to hear of your earthquake. I had that same lens, and loved it on B&W film. It was very sharp.

Yes Rick, read about those items in the newspaper this morning here. Hope things get better soon. Lovely cloud pictures, sp.

Rick- I've been keeping up with the news. Hope conditions improve soon. Great photo, BTW. I've always liked cloud photos. Thanks for posting.

Of the two I think the vertical works best, very dramatic. Now close the shutters on the windows and hunker down. I'm sure you will contact us when the power comes back on.
