I just finished a CLA on this beauty (stuck, oily shutter and iris, foggy rangefinder, etc). She's loaded with ISO 200 color film and ready to go; I've read great reviews of this camera and lens. Does anyone know the filter ring diameter for the f 1.9 lens? I'd like to find a hood and yellow filter for it.

Great to see that I'm not only one here! Right, manual (I've seen only for Ricoh 500, which differs only by lens) lists only filter and hood as lens accessories.
As I understand, filters are supposed to be 34mm threaded and outer 43mm thread is reserved for hood.

I have the second model of the 500, which has an f/2.8 lens. It's a very nice shooter
--looking forward to seeing your results with yours.

Great image of a fine camera, Dennis. I really admire the build quality, the clean design, and the reassuring heft of the beauty. I'll be interested to see how your first film turns out.
There's a thing I did on this camera here, if you're interested, and I hope you enjoy using it as much as I do.

Congratulations on that fine camera. I owned one from 2006-2010. Its lens rendered subjects with better contrast (to my eye at least) than the Ricoh 500 f2.8 and of course the extra speed was nice. My only issue was that Ricoh used the streamlined body shape for the 519 of the earlier 500 models for the viewfinder/rangefinder, and I much preferred their 1960 design which had a stepped top but a much better and brighter viewfinder/rangfinder, also I preferred the synch ring on the lens body, rather than the red flag. Do yourself a favor if your tech didn't already do so, and make sure that infinity focus is spot on, and that the horizontal and vertical rangefinder adjustments coincide. Enjoy using it. I remember people always stopping me to comment about the camera. BTW I'm still using one of my 500 models (I've owned 7 of them in the last 40 years) along with my Leica - stopped down the lens is that good, and the 519 lens is even better.

Great example. I have the plain 500 (currently with stuck latch). Thanks for posting.

Mike, mine had a stuck latch, too (if you mean you couldn't get the back off). A good deal of incessent wiggling finally released it, turns out a screw holding the latch mechanism tight was missing. I had another wrecked body to scavenge another screw from. There are 3 screws there, fairly beeffy ones.

So that's what that lenscap is for I have in my bits-box
Pretty machine you got there Dennis. I hope your CLA was effective.
