"ExtendScript Toolkit 2" needed for Adobe CS3 reinstallation?

Jesse Whittle-Utter , Nov 20, 2007; 12:31 a.m.

Hello,

I was attempting to reinstall my CS3 applications after running into a problem with Bridge not launching (see two posts ago.) I deleted all the Bridge files (all of them in the Applications folder, anyway,) then ran the installer from the disc, choosing all applications to be reinstalled. About 10 minutes into the process, my Macbook Pro spits out the installation disc and tells me to "insert ExtendScript Toolkit 2 to continue installation". What? I've never needed that before, and it isn't included among my CS3 disks.

So I do some digging - find the download on Adobe's website and install the Extendscript Toolkit 2. But when I try again to install CS3 from the disk, it again spits it out, repeating its earlier request. When I launch Extendscript to satisfy this request, the Adobe Installer does not register it. I seem to be required to "insert" it.

Can anyone explain to me what's going on here? I though reinstalling would be as simple as the original installation was - now I need a disc version of something I've never heard of and never needed before? Any help would be very much appreciated.

(The ultimate goal is to get Bridge to open again; the short-term goal is to get CS3 to reinstall without this mystery step required.)

I'm using a MacBook Pro, 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM, OS 10.4.10; all new and problem-free.

Thanks,

Jesse
