FYI: Minolta DSE 5400 v1 + Dimage Scan Util. + Leopard 10.5.2 works

I read in a recent posting that folks had not been successful with the Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Elite 5400 v1 and Mac Leopard. I just wanted to report that I had been able to make this work. Happy!

I downloaded what I assume is the latest driver (Aug 05) from the canadian KM support site. I installed it on my new Mac Pro 8-core and applied the new leopard system update which came out yesterday: 10.5.2. I loaded just the stand-alone scan utility, not the PS plug-in or any of the quickscan stuff.

Glad to have my original Minolta (pre-KM) 5400 working on the new machine! Seems to be speedier than on my old G4, even though it is running in rosetta, not being intel-native software. I know the standard reply is 'just use Vuescan'. That was my plan B, but I much prefer the Dimage scan interface.

Are you using the Firewire or USB connection? My experience (albeit in Windows) is that the USB is slightly faster, but the Firewire is much less (or not) slowed down if you multi-task, say by running Photoshop at the same time. Accordeingly, I stuck with Firewire.

Firewire, I have never tried USB on this scanner because my previous machines had USB1.1.
