adding catchlights using Lightroom

Lucy Cornell , Jan 23, 2010; 10:44 a.m.

I am new to lightroom and do not have photoshop which i believe will work together well with lightroom for developing photographs. However, I would like add catchlights to a couple of portraits I have done. Can i achieve this using lightroom alone? and if so can someone be kind enough to take me through the process step by step? thanks

no you can't work with other footage, or special brushes; if you have catchlights you could work on them with the brush-tool; seöect the tool / set the option mask, paint over the specular, now you have the option to set a tint, exposure,contrast,... but LR is rather a "mass"-converter for a fast workflow; individual workout has to be done in PS; when you save from PS by only hitting the save button or cmd S your file will be saved in the folder of the raw and imported to LR,

If I wanted to do what you wanted I would simply use some judicious touches of the Lightroom adjustment brush with a +1.5 or so of overexposure... You could get away with this, depending on the image etc... Here's a quick example...

...catchlights added with the Adjustment Brush.
