Sorry everyone. I have a question that I am embarrassed to ask. When downloading paper profiles for use in PSE 8 and Epson 3800, where does the download go-PSE or the printer? If so, where in PSE or the printer software?? Thanks!

The profiles are in a file accessible to Photoshop. Specifically, for a PC, in Windows>System 32>Spool>Drivers>Color (don't know what the equivalent Mac location would be.) This is one of the reasons why you should print with Photoshop managing colors and color management turned off in the 3800 dialog page.

Where ICC Profiles Live on Your System Macintosh OS9. In the System Folder, there is a folder called ColorSync. All ICC profiles are placed here. One nice feature of OS9 was that profiles were automatically placed in this correct folder when a user dragged and dropped any ICC profile directly on top of the System Folder.
Macintosh OS X. System->Library->ColorSync->Profiles
Or:
User->Library->ColorSync->ProfilesProfiles placed here are available only to the current logged-in user.
Windows98: C:\Windows\System\Color
Windows XP: C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\Color
Windows 2000, XP: C:WinNT\ System32\Spool\Drivers\Color

Thanks very much for the explanation. Clarification; I am using a new Dell pc with Windows 7 OS. I have used all the updated Windows 7 software downloads for Epson and Photoshop. I did not have any problem with my old Dell with XP and a CRT monitor. I printed very nicely with color controls enabled on the 3800. My problems started with the new system, including Dell LCD monitor. I have calibrated the monitor thinking that would help. It did help, but not enough.
