Raw vs JPEG

I am student in a photography class in college. I've always used RAW images but I was curious what everyone else's preferences are for printing and editing.

JPEG has advantages for storage because small file size, but it's best NOT to edit JPEG if your intent is to print from that file because editing degrades JPEG. If you want to edit a file it's best to use a lossless application.

I think this question is best to ask the professor. It's his job isn't it. Unless you have other reasons on why you ask here. If you do have reasons you can't ask the teacher be frank with us.
