What a beautiful world we live in. These are such lovely, lovely pictures that showcase tremendous talent.

Wonderful! But what an impossible category to pick from! I love Simon's landscape work particularly - you could fill a whole pick with just his stuff! I'm a little surprise to see Ian Cameron missing though...

Still, a lovely collection! Well done to all those represented!

Cheers Rob

Wonderful images, well done!

Beautiful picks. They are very nice images. Nice job guys. Congrats. I. Feliciano

Many of these are fabulous.

However...

A couple of these picks have very poorly done HDR jobs with obvious halos around the main subjects. It's frustrating to me that photos like this are selected as Editor's Picks. Makes me wonder about the Editors...

Agree with Kory

some of these are breathtaking. i was looking for the next page only to realise that there were no more! i wish the editors had worked a little harder and added ten more pages of this good stuff as it certainly would have made my afternoon!

I have no other words to add to the above complimentary comments.
Been from Italy I just can say

FANTASTICO

Alex Marlot , December 29, 2008; 12:06 P.M.

Very nice images. HDR deserves its very own category!

Tomislav Petrovic , January 10, 2009; 08:03 A.M.

Good or bad HDR photo rules in your "picks". Dear editors, this kind of photo is computer work, impossible to do only with camera, so please create " picks" for this kind of photography experts

I think the editors should get more into the site!

Alex, Tomislav.

Most of the pictures the editor selected are not HDR pictures. You would know that if you looked at the details and comment tabs of the photos.

11 photoographers didn't state what they did but based on what they said 4 are not likely HDR images. Based on my own experience most of the others are not HDR images or could have been done without any computer work.

4 stated that they didn't manipulat the picture which means the image shown is what it looked like right out of the camera.

6 photographers stated that they used Split Neutral Density filters to darken the sky which means the images are not HDR. While it is possible they did apply some photoshop enhansments, split ND filters can give you the look right out of the camera.

The picture by David Clap was a stich of two photos. It is not an HDR image.

Tenku Jady Zulkarnaen applied curve, channel mixer, and color adjustments. It is not HDR.

Ales Frelih and Chris Spracklen used HDR. Ales's picture also shows evidence of dodging and burning.

Only 2 photos are definitely HDR images. What I see is that most of the photographers spent there time taking the photos to get them right straight out of the camera.

Who cares if,when, how, or wether? these pictures were manipulated they are all magnificent examples of what can! be acheived, and as such required vision, ingenuity, and a technical ability that I can only guess at? they can be an inspiriation to new photographers such as myself and I believe they deserve their place here, my favourite is, Rajiv Mehta's "Yellow to me" Bravo!

Anthony Poston , February 22, 2009; 11:01 A.M.

The world is such a beautiful place, it is hard for me to understand how that so many people just take it for granted. They go through life and never look up at a sunrise/sunset. Or take the time to just go outside and enjoy what is there naturally. These are great photos!

Stephen Asprey , March 25, 2009; 08:35 P.M.

I may be a dinosaur, but to me with 45 years of film since I was 10, behind me, only a few of these shots look like they originated from a camera. Yes, they are beautiful images, but they also look like something made on a Dreamworks computer. As for HDR....well I think we should have a category for RAW only and ban post processing to tease out the actual real photographers of quality.

bromo mountain
