looking at all the featured photographs stirred all different kinds of emotions in me. that i think is a key characteristic of a documentary photo - you do not need words to explain the image. the image will be clear enough to convey a strong message. any photo appealing to your human nature for me is a candidate for a true blue documentary photo.

i salute all those who were selected. you have captured the essence of reality! congratulations.

Barbara/Morgan and Wales

Always a little polished ..... I am a documentary photographer and know this is essential for the modern photographer. As a photojournalist one has to take pics willy-nilly then rely on the printer/Photoshop to be the back up .... Gone are the days when the photographer... like Kertesz,Weston and Cartier Bresson did not see the image but felt it.www.keithcardwell.co.uk
