Bit of good news for all 110 users...

Ian Rance , May 30, 2009; 05:52 p.m.

Well, I never thought I would see it, but I have managed to get some fresh 100 speed 110 film. It is Fuji Super G 'Pocket Film' and I got it yesterday via mail order from Japan Exposures (formerly Megaperls).

When I ordered it I thought it was an error, but no, after 1 week a packet arrived containing 5 fresh films (dated April 2011). For users of better 110 cameras this will be good news - no longer will you need to use that grainy Kodak 400 or outdated 200 Superia of the 'bay. 5 rolls including postage to the UK cost me just under 25 pounds.

Naturally a roll is running through my camera now and I will post results after I have finished it and had it procesed. It has really cheered me up to see this!

Fuji 100 film and a couple of hungry cameras

That's great news! I don't have any "serious" 110 cameras, just a couple of simple point and shoot ones, mostly just to play around with and out of nostalgia for the 110 cameras I used when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's. But I definitely want to get some of this film now! Thanks for letting us know about this!

I buy from Japan Images so I will look to get some 110 film the next time a friend goes to Japan. My complaint about 110 film was not the grain of the Kodak film but the poor processing from the few places which still handle it. When he was here some years ago , a friend from Japan used a Minolta 110 Zoom SLR Mark II and got excellent results.

Great to know! I would rather it be Kodak, but I'll shoot any 110 I can get.

Discount Films Direct is selling fresh Superia 200 at £3.35 a roll.

I want Varachrome Pan in 110 I know that won't happen.... I have a Minolta 110 zoom and I found that of all places dropping the film off ad Wal-Mart for send out gave me the best processing and I have a freezer full of Solaris 200.

Fresh Super G film? I thought that was discontinued in the late 90s for Superia?

Nicholas Rapak , May 31, 2009; 01:44 p.m.

Larry, you could always try respooling 16mm film into a 110 cartridge, and developing it yourself. Goat Hill Photo sells unperforated 16mm film, as well as 110 cartridges that you can cut open. You can also buy a film slitter, and cut your own emulsion. The only tank that I know of that develops 16mm film is the Yankee Clipper II, available for $9.99 from B&H.

Does anyone make 110 slide film?

Patrick Mont , May 31, 2009; 08:26 p.m.

I think the only 110 slide film is stuff you cut yourself. Is there any place in the US to buy 110?

Chris Tobar , Jun 01, 2009; 05:10 a.m.

Patrick, I don't know about slide film. But up until very recently, I still saw 110 Kodak film at Walmart. In fact, the last time I was at the Walmart where I live, they had a few boxes on sale for $2.00 each. I bought all of the three they had left, and then I went to a couple of other Walmarts in the area and started buying theirs too. LOL...I figured I'm going to start stockpiling it now! About 2 weeks ago, I was at another Walmart that still had a bunch left, but I really didn't have any extra money to spend at the time. I'm planning to go back there soon, and hopefully they will still have some left.

Yeah, I'm hording 110 film. So? :)

It's too bad they only have 400 ISO film, which is pretty grainy. Dwayne's Photo develops 110 film, and that's where I sent the first cartridge I shot. They did an okay job with it...probably about the same quality as what I used to get with my 110 cameras when I was a kid. But I'm just doing it for fun anyway, not any serious pictures. It just felt so weird actually using a 110 camera again. I swear, I probably hadn't used one since I was maybe 13 or 14 years old. I remembered what the catridges looked like, but it had just been so long. And I had forgotten how much fun it actually is to use a 110 camera.

I definitely want to try this Fuji 100 film. I'm sure 110 could actually take some good pictures if you had decent film.

My mother shot Kodachrome 64 in 110 format back in the late '70s and early '80s. The images, aside from being very small, were sharp and beautiful.

Patrick Mont , Jun 03, 2009; 05:01 p.m.

I have done the same at WalMart, but Kodak no longer manufactures 110. That is why it was on sale :(

Chris Tobar , Jun 04, 2009; 04:56 a.m.

Wait...really Patrick? I hadn't heard that Kodak stopped manufacturing it, only that Walmart was going to stop selling it! Oh that sucks. How did you find out about that?

I actually have some 110 catridges that expire in 2011. So I don't get it.

Patrick Mont , Jun 06, 2009; 09:08 a.m.

I gave Kodak a call and wrote them a letter. It is true! I am not to pleased! Everyone argues me (even at Kodak) that if I shoot 110, I am better off with a 2 mega pixel digital. I don't care...I enjoy shooting it for the nostalgia. I now wish I shot more...

Michael Raso , Jul 15, 2009; 11:01 p.m.

Hi. Thanks for the 110 film news. I just purchased a used Pentax 110 Auto and plan on doing some heavy 110 shooting. Thanks again!

I have reloaded 110 cartrages and it is OK I split 35mm film to 16mm. but this will only work with higher end cameras that don't use the sprocket holes to advance and count the frames.
