Hi all. I own a Fuji X10, I love it. I want to buy an external viewfinder. Preferably a universal one. Any suggestions that won't cost me a vital organ?

To respond better, maybe state what you find deficient about the existing viewfinder or the LCD. You do have a 4 to 1 zoom lens, I doubt there are many affordable external finders that would accommodate that.

Thanks for the reply Jim.
I'm going to use it for street shots. I like using the viewfinder but it doesn't give full view (85%) and I can see the lens at certain lengths. I intend to shoot mainly at 50mm and 28mm so either of those would do. The LCD is great but not so much in sunlight.
I've been looking at the Voigtlander and The turret viewfinders. At the moment I'm experimenting with one focal length (50mm). I enjoy the "restriction" and it makes me think a little more about my composition. So I'm thinking the external viewfinder might help with this.
It might not be a great idea to buy one. What do you think?
Brian.

Frankly, I did not know how many variants were extant. I think that it would work sure, but at a $$ price and it's going to be a personal preference thing. So I learned something at p-net school today too. :o)
I have 2 P&S cameras, neither of which have hot shoes ... soooo.

I've been using mostly Nikon SLRs since the 70s for my hobby. I've gotten used to the 95-100% viewfinders. So I never gave it much thought.
The 60s and 70s cheapie rangefinders I use all have a viewfinder that goes beyond the actual frame which is then outlined with brightframe marks. So you can kind of see something coming into the frame ahead of time and be ready. Bought these used recently (off ebay in the last 5 years) and it did take some getting used to that 'peripheral vision' (I'm an old coot.).
If you do up close/macro shooting, you would probably use the LCD to avoid parallax. Any 'viewfinder' is great for portrait to infinity distances.
have fun.

I found an Agfa Isola I in my parents house a few days ago. It's a medium format, very, and I mean very basic camera. But I can't wait to shoot with it. Got my 120mm 6x6 film and I'm ready to go. I love the convenience of digital but I think the whole process of film cameras is very appealing.
I'd like to buy a Voigtlander Bessa of some kind in the future but as I'm a noob I'm gonna stick with my X10 for a while and learn about photography, not gear. I think that's why I'd like an external viewfinder to focus my shooting i.e., stick with one focal length for a time and really squeeze all I can out of it.
I found this site and I think I might go for the turret finder as it has 4 focal lengths I can use in the X10. And if it's good I can use it in the future. I don't think I'll be stopping anytime soon :)
