We announce the migration of several
photography-related forums from greenspun.com's LUSENET to photo.net.
The forums include:
We are very pleased to welcome these forum communities to photo.net, and
to have the archives of these forums available on the site.
Forums on photo.net are usually accessed through the
Community Forums Page. This also provides access to the
Unified Forum, which is a view of all the postings in all forums. You
can personalize this view to show only the forums in which you are interested.
The photo.net software is a later and customized version of the same
software used on LUSENET, and LUSENET users will find it familiar. But one
difference is that in order to post messages to photo.net forums, it is necessary
to have an account and password, and be logged in.
photo.net accounts have
been created for all the email addresses used in the LUSENET forums, except those
that already existed as photo.net accounts. In order to find out his or her
system-generated password, a LUSENET member should
use the photo.net
Password Recovery form. Enter an email address that you
used on the LUSENET forum, and the password will be mailed to that address.
When you login using the password, you will be asked to change it. (Note that
the generated passwords include upper and lower case numbers and letters. Be
careful not to confuse 0 and O, I, 1, and l, etc.)
If you have any difficulty recovering your password or logging in, contact us
at feedback@photo.net. Once you are able
to log in, you can post other questions to our
Help and Feedback Forum.
In many cases, several accounts have been created for the same user,
since LUSENET did not validate email addresses, and misspellings of the addresses
have unavoidably also been turned into photo.net accounts. If users contact us at
feedback@photo.net, we will attempt
to merge these multiple accounts. Doing this will bring your full posting
history into one convenient place.
The forums on greenspun.com will become read-only within the next day or so,
and after a few days more, the LUSENET server will redirect all URL's for the
forums to their new location on photo.net. The initial state of the forums on
photo.net is a snapshot taken on the afternoon of June 2.
Once the LUSENET forums have been made read-only, messages posted on LUSENET
after June 2 will be transferred to photo.net. This will take one or two days.
