Photo.net Newsletter: October 19, 2011![]() Hi %%First Name%%, Here is the first photo taken by my son Oliver (Canon 5D + EF 16-35/2.8L in case anyone is interested). No, he didn’t hold it himself, he’s only 18 months old. But he did look through the viewfinder, point it at his cousin, and press the button himself. It got me thinking, could I remember the first photo I ever took (or even something close to the first)? I remember the first roll of film from my first camera, a Kodak Pocket Instamatic 100. It was mostly of people’s knees, I was a short kid. Can you remember your first photo? Just to see if any of us could, I made a forum post here: The first photo you ever took… This month’s newsletter has a preview of the just announced Canon 1D-X body, a review of the new Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S lens, a Small Format Printer Buyers guide article for inkjet printers, an employment offer from Bella Pictures for wedding photographers, and a new exclusive ‘Deal of the Week’ for photo.net members. Rather than saying anything here, I’m going to give Photo.net member Jim Adams the floor with an excerpt from his POTW post this week: "I like the photograph for its excellent d.o.f. and tonality. I also like the composition as a whole and the clarity/crispness in the detail. That said, the photograph doesn’t really say “Factory Girl” to me. Matter of fact, I’m having a problem deciding exactly what, if anything, it does say to me." -Jim Adams Have something to say about the Photo of the Week? Then you should post your thoughts on the Photo of the Week Forum. ![]() Community NewsPhoto.net Survey Winners

![]() Monthly Project: Orange & GoldIf a season can have a color, would autumn have have orange or gold? I think it would have both. Leaves changing colors, sunsets low on the horizon with clouds in the sky, bonfires at night, the harvest in the field, pumpkins, squash, sweet potato pie on the table. This month, show everyone the orange and gold that you find in your life. See all of the Monthly Projects (and submission instructions) on the Monthly Project Index page. Here are a few from last month’s “Harvest Time” project that caught my eye:
