Lighting Tutorials

Lighting for photography is a science, an art, a craft. Certainly not to be taken lightly. There are so many options out there, some very cheap options for the budding studio photographer, more expensive options for the advanced, and mega-expensive options for the professional. Where should you start if you are just getting into studio photography? The best guide to read to get an overall insight on lighting is the Beginner's Guide to Lighting Kits, which covers everything from advice on considering your budget to lighting kits you should consider (and everything else that should be in your kit). Another very helpful guide is How to Choose Studio Lighting, which covers the three basic lighting choices you'll want to consider, and help on determining how much power you'll need for your lighting kit. The best practice when it comes to lighting, is to experiment, practice, experiment. First-hand results are the best instructional tool. Ask questions in our Lighting Forum on photo.net .
