Have a look at this site <A HREF="http://www.cameraquest.com/m6dif.htm">Early versus late M6.</A>

<p>

The price of a mint condition Leica M6 "Leitz Wetzlar" is generally around the $1,500-$1,600 mark which is about $300 more than a later model M6.

Leica used to have a production facility in the town Wetzlar. At some point they moved production to Solms. A "Leitz Wetzlar" M6 is a M6 classic by defenition. Quality-wise there's no difference between Wetzlar and Solms camera's.

Since Wetzlar camera's are older prices may be lower. However, price is probably more dependent on the condition of the camera.

About M6 Wetzlar, I have seen that it has less flare in the viewfinder respect to the last model (TTL) and "classic model". I think it is more usable in particular condition of light.
