As you know the DMR module is hard to find and rather expensive. I was rather happy to find
on eBay.fr under DMR an offer for an R9, a DMR and a 30-70 zoom for 2600 euro. Recently
a R9 and a DMR go for 3600 euro in Vienna or in Paris. Too good to be true? I contacted
the vendor. He would not take Paypal and offered to wire a "packer" who would hold the money
until I receive the goodies and accept them. The problem is that the packer has no public
record and that I would have no control. Also the vendor did not seem too fluent with the
equipment. Smelling a rat I decided not to pursue. Too bad. May be I will go for Leitax since I
have 6 R lenses.

Smart man! You were absolutely right to drop this dubious character. You might consider reporting this to eBay.fr.

A Canon EOS and Leica R to EOS adapter will be a better bet than chasing the DMR on eBay. Someone with better knowledge about Canon EOS can guide you. Adapter is available from Cameraquest for $199.

Definitely too good to be true. Ebay cautions about escrow services ripping people off. I too went thru this long exercise waiting for an affordable DMR, as I had an R8 (plus a few Leicaflexes and an R3) but finally gave up.

Alex: which model of Canon would you recommend? I have been a Nikon guy since 1972. Thanks.

Pierre, there is a full-frame model out that might be good for you. Canons are thin enough to take a lot of SLR lenses, except the old FDs (without awful glass contraptions).

Pierre, I use my Leica R lenses on my Canon 5D Mark II. Plenty of megapixels for high quality images and the full frame viewfinder is much better than any of the crop cameras. The Canon lenses are very good as well with more automation for focus and exposure. Good luck!

Pierre, R lenses work perfectly with Canon 5D mark II, thru R-EOS adapter, with no alteration on Leica lenses. Avoid
Leitax solution, you need one Leitax for each R lens, and you must unscrew the R connector to replace it with a
Leitax, once converted, you cannot use it on Leica R bodies anymore, unless you screw down the Leitax and restore
the R mount. I have eight R lenses, I would need 8 Leitax adapters,and perform 16 dismount/mount procedures, too
much hassle.
Using R lenses on Canon 5 D 2 is very much like using them on Leicca R bodied.
I. Currently use a r-EOS adapter with dandelion chip, it provides in focus indication, when object is in focus, the in
focus spots lit up in Caron viewfinder, with a beep sound, focus is actually even simpler than with Leica R.
