Can a PL-CIR filter be used with Bronica PE manual focus lenses?

Reuben Siuda , Feb 10, 2002; 02:37 p.m.

Hi,

I read that linear polarizing filter should not be used with automatic focus/metering cameras - but is is the reverse true of PL- CIR filters.

i.e. I have just purchased a Bronica ETRSi inc a 75mm PE lens. I have a 62mm Hoya PL-CIR filter which will fit this lens. Can I use it or can I only use linear?

Many thanks in advance

Rebuen

I will work fine. Put it on, and look through it whileadjusting it.

Thanks Art,

as I've come from an autoexposure camera to fully manual - what is the normal f-stop adjustment when using this filter after I take a reading with a light meter?

Thanks

Reuben

If you're using TTL metering, the meter will sense the loss oflight, just as with any filter. If you are using a hand heldmeter, meter through the filter at the angle of rotation you will be using. The max loss should be about 2 stops.
