Hasselblad FE 2,8/50mm Distagon

Tommi G , Nov 05, 2007; 01:14 p.m.

Does anyone at Hasselblad or otherwise know how does the new FLE Distagon compare with the old 4.0 CF and C when it comes to the size of the image circle? I'm interested because I use 50mm lens with Flexbody and my old C T* is quite limited.

You need a lens with a shutter for use with a Flexbody, and the 50/2.8 FE does not have one. In general, the image circle from standard Hasselblad lenses is sufficient only for limited tilt, not shift or rise.

Here is a chart of the different lenses and their shift amounts. I don't know if the C and CF would be different. Lens Coverage CFE 40 +/- 1mm CFi 50 +/- 5mm CB 60 +/- 10mm CFE 80 +/- 10mm CFi 100 +/- 14mm CFi 120 +/- 14mm CFi 150 +/- 15mm CFi 180 +/- 12mm CFi 250 +/- 10mm

"You need a lens with a shutter for use with a Flexbody" Thank you Edward! However I remember I read somewhere here that 50mm C-Distagon has around 10mm shift and that's how it looks like in use. I've got some nice shots with it, but it's true that the corners start to turn dark very easy. I thought the new version would have been the solution...

What you need is the new 50 4.0 CF(i)/FLE - but as Terry says, it's +/- 5mm which isn't much - but it does have a shutter.

Tommi,

CFi 50 mm f:4 gives easy 12 mm shift, in many cases full about 16 mm is still ok. Without hood or filter. Hasselblad numbers for maximum shift are measured for CF 50 mm that has 60 mm filter bayonet instead of 70 mm of CFi. I have been working with Flexbody & CFi 50 mm for many years with good results. And quality is not far from SW 905. Indeed Flexbody and CFi50 with already 12 mm shift opens clearly wider view to direction of shift.

Terveisin Kerkko.
