What kind of experiences you have of combination CFi 250 mm f:5,6 & Mutar 2x? Picture quality, hand holdability, etc.

Think of it as a 500mm lens. So with the C/M cameras, you should be using the fastest shutter speed of 1/500 sec. With the F cameras, you can have 1/1000 or 1/2000, depending on the model.

It simply means you will be needing to use the fastest film acceptable for the job, adjusting exposure with aperture, which has already been effectively reduced by 2 stops because of the Mutar 2X

(Check me please someone: Will it be one or two stops?)

This combination is not for hand holding. You need some kind of support, be it monopod, tripod, bean bag or molehill. (BTW, I have a Mutar 2X available because I bought the 2XE for its databus contacts).

Optically the combination will perform well but keep in mind effective lens aperture drops to F11.

That is correct Jenny, you loose two stops.

With that kind of lens speed and at least 1/500 you will need lots of light and a fast film as well.

Handheld is out of the question. A solid tripod with a strong ball head is recommended.

Because you will be fighting for light I would rather use a Tele Tessar 500/8. That way you gain one stop.

One of the advantages of converters is the MOD. That remains the same as for the lens in this case the 250 which is 2,5m against 8,5 m for the Tele Tessar.
