Jones Flash Bracket TLR

Anthony Oresteen , Sep 06, 2010; 12:09 p.m.

I need to get a flash bracket for my TLR 2.8 Rollei. Looking through the past posts it seems that the Jones J-120 bracket is the one to get.

With the bracket on the left side of the Rollei, how do you focus? Can you hold the camera withe the left hand and also focus?

Anyone actually use a Jone J120 with a TLR and a waist level finder? How does it work?

I will be using a Vivitar 283 or 285 strobe.

Thanks!

You are set up like me in that I use a 2.8F Rollei and a 283 or 285 flash. I don't know the name of the flash bracket but it is a simple black metal L shaped thing with a cold shoe on top and a thin rubber grip. I keep it on the left hand side of the camera and it is very convenient to hold and focus with the thumb and index finger at the same time. It is convenient for me because I always use a prism, I am not sure how it feels at waist level.
The problem with this bracket and all the others as well is that you can't sit the camera down on it's bottom with the bracket in place. You have to lie the camera on it's back.

Thanks Dennis.

The Jones J120 bracket can 'push' forward so that you can use a waistlevel finder. From what you say I should be able to hold & focus.
I will give it a go.
