I processed my first roll from the Minox EC the other day, here is a pic of one of the shots.

Minox EC Ilford Delta 100 Ilford ID11 1:3, 20 min rotary development Scanned on flatbed, 4800dpi

On the original not resized for web use as posted here this gave a print of 2/3rd A4 size @ 300ppi Have to say i'm very impressed with the quality and looking forward to developig my first roll from the B as i've heard good things of the Complan lens. I'm intending to try some FP5 (400ASA) once I get my film slitter, ( i know it'll be very grainy but am interested in trying to get some gritty type images, i'm too used to working with 35mm and 'sometimes too clean' digital). I hope to try some 50 or 25 ISO too, I know that Ilford still do the panF 50. Does anyone know of a B&W 25ASA? Also any comments about developers generally would be appreciated. I've only ever really used ID11 and D76 which are as I understand much the same. Would the use of different developers increase dynamic range / decrease grain, enhance midtones etc, it'd all be useful for developing 35mm too.

Thanks,

Mike

Obviously, the APX 25 would be your first choice, but with the production closed years ago,the existing stock commands premium prices on e*ay or elsewhere. But a roll or two can be bought without much damage to your account. The next best thing would be to buy some Kodak Technical Pan,and rate it 25-50.Exceptionally fine grain and yields magnificent results, however you may have a bit of a problem with its contrast, therefore choosing the right developer/time/agitation would be recommended.

Rollei 25,Efke 25/50(KB25/50),Imagelink or Bluefire films, these could be your choices.Plenty of them on the market out there, juts google these names and there you go.A wonderful film, yielding unbelievable results is Agfa Copex Rapid Film, with its special developer,Spur Nanospeed, extremelly fine grain and a resolution that is simply unbeatable(perhaps only by Kodak TechPan). The Agfa Copex Rapid is available in both 35mm and 8x11 formats, the 35mm in regular lenghts(36 exp/roll),whereas 8x11 is to be found rolled already in minox cassettes,so you skip the somehow complicated slitting procedure(complicated at least in the first stages of starting it).Markus from 8x11film.com is very helpful and a pleasure to deal with;in the UK,I know the film and chems are sold by submin.com,and Gerald is more than willing to give a hand in advising on the matter.

Pan F+ is a very good film also.Make sure you read and peruse all the info on films posted in the old Greenspun Forum(you may find such info on the right side of the Minox Forum herein,in blue letters on categories).Try you hand on some Kodak Tmax, very fine grain and very good for your Minox,if you like the Tmax films,I for one love them:in Tmax developer or D76/ID11,got pretty good results in the past.Ilford and Fuji(3200 /1600 ISO)give you some pretty grainy negatives, very dramatic indeed,if this is what you are looking for.APX 100 in Rodinal gives fantastic results,as well as Delta 100 or Neopan 100.

Plenty of literature out there...still plenty of films and developers to choose from. The word here is your own taste on what you want from your films, and experiment, experiment, experiment.Good luck and take care for now,

Best regards,

JT

Btw...nice pic you have there.Congratulations!
