Self Timer not working on Nikon d100

Steve Sheppard , Aug 26, 2005; 10:25 a.m.

I can't seem to get my self timer to work on my D100. I think I had this problem once before and I fixed it but I don't remember how. Any ideas?

Set the option dial to the self-timer logo and press the shutter release. The camera still operates in focus-priority, which may take some time with a D100. If the focus is not "locked" when you take your finger off the button, the camera will not fire.

I should have been more clear. The shutter fires immediately; no matter what length of delay I chose

The selector switch was bad.
