Shutter Actuation Count (How Many Shots?)

Adam Zyto , Jan 05, 2008; 09:58 p.m.

How can I tell how many shots a D200 has taken? I have an opportunity to purchase a used one and want to make sure it's been lightly used. Thanks.

Response to How Many Shots?

this question has been asked, oddly enough, probably 3-4 times in the last month ... why not try a search?

Download this free utility: http://drchung.new21.net/previewextractor/ Open the last shot taken with the camera and you will have what you want.

Jack, thank you for that link. I tried a couple of times using Opanda for my D70 and couldn't figure it out.

Previewextractor told me all I wanted to know and in an instant!

You can get that from PhotoShop also.

Click on File on the top left corner. From that drop-down menu, click on File Info (not shown here) and you'll get a pop-up window with information for that image file. Click on Advanced (last item) and then expand the 4th item from the "tree." Aux Image Number is the shutter actuation count for that particular image.

The attached image is from CS3.
