The New D4 coming out

susan winn , Jan 31, 2012; 12:31 p.m.

I saw on dpreview.com there is a D4 camera coming out. I was wondering if anyone knows if they are coming out with a camera to replace the D700?

Since they have discontinued the D700, then most certainly.

no one knows details, though, except people who've signed a non-disclosure agreement...

...so ignore the rumor sites and keep your eyes on this space here. REAL news will be announced and it'll make it's way to this site very shortly after.

Who knows ? .. oh that question was already answered by Peter Hamm..
But next week there is another importent event called the "CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging show", and several "Press events" in different countries, so maybe you will get to know more by just being patient...

Probably 3K should be in the ball park. To much for me but I am sure there will be a stampede to buy one. Who knows maybe they will just add vidio and a safe battery and call it an upgrade. Nobody knows until one is around to evaluate.

nobody here knows anything. but if you google D800, i'll bet you'll find what you're looking for.

That depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for rumors, there has been a lot of rumors in the last year for the successor for the D700; usually people call that the "D800." Whether it will indeed be called the D800 is unknown, at least unknown to me.

As I was discussing with Peter Hamm, etc. privately last November, we had seen three different rumor specs for this "D800." Some say 36MP, some say 18MP, etc. Back in November, some rumor sites used highly misleading wording suggesting that this "D800" had already been announced, and some rumor sites provided several dates in November and December for its announcement. Needless to say, those dates have come and gone.

The fact of the matter is that the only real source for information for Nikon products is Nikon themselves. Anything that cannot be directly traced back to Nikon are merely rumors. You can discuss and debate rumors to no end and you will never get anywhere until Nikon makes their official announcement. Needless to say, if you are interested in the actual product, that has to come from Nikon as well. If you are merely intested in discussing rumors, that is a different story.

I've been reading various posts about the D800 for over a year and a half now - so really with it being that old we should be hearing about the D900. ;-)

Ian may be on to something there with D900 rumors. Afterall, I'm already reading speculation on what the D4X will be (bigger sensor, etc. ofcourse). :-)
