Shooting at the extremes

Sanford Edelstein , Nov 20, 2009; 01:56 p.m.

I just noticed that in Adobe Bridge I can view the actual focal lengths used for all the photos in a particular folder. Most were shot at 12mm and the second most were shot at 200mm which means I am using the widest setting of my 12-24mm zoom and longest setting of my 18-200mm zoom most of the time. I don't know what this means other than I need to get outside more.

I have a similar habit which I attribute to a more interesting perspective at zoom extremes. Then again, I also tend to foot-zoom in order to achieving an extreme lens zoom.

You could say that it means that you don't need zooms, but should buy a couple of primes instead - a 12mm and a 200mm!

Its interesting to sort or group photos by focal length.
I find most my stuff is in the 50 - 85 range.
It has helped me decide on my next lens, the 85 f/1.8
