Madonna

The voice is still there, but her dancing...stiff as a board, or a 53 year old performer past her prime. What think ye one and all?

I can never think of Madonna without hearing Mr. Brown's analysis of her at the beginning of Reservoir Dogs.

That said, she's in far better shape at 53 than I am. And she gets paid very well for being a trashy pop culture icon, while I get paid nothing for being a fan of trashy pop culture.

Great time to prepare food and do other things. I watched about two minutes and then wondered why did they get Madonna? Maybe 10 or 20 years ago, but as you said John....past her prime. Then again, I have never been much of a Madonna fan.

I thought she put on a terrific show. Maybe someone should have cut down her heels, but she was great and showed that age isn't an obstacle to putting on a great show. Having Cee Lo and M.I.A. were added bonuses. And Madonna is still such a freakazoid, it's great to see her in such a mainstream event.

I watched her and kept thinking "an inspiration to senior citizens everywhere".

Madonna is so, so much better than gaga...

Boring all around.

I have to disagree there Leslie. Gaga has a superior voice and the best bod in the business past or present.

Like Lex, I am frequently a fan of trashy pop music. But my overall reaction to just about any Superbowl halftime show is....meh. I dunno, they just don't interest me. Maybe it's the frequently awful lip syncing. Probably something about the technical difficulties of doing it in a stadium or something.

As for pop performances, I much prefer the show that people put on at the Grammys or whatnot.

That having been said, for her age and given the show itself, Madonna did fine. Some of the "guests" were cool, some were stupid. But that's just going to be preference. I think her dancing might have looked a bit smoother if she had a bit less heel going on. But who knows. Perhaps it's harder than we think to dance on top of a couple hundred TV's.

Agree about the heels affecting her dancing. You have to believe the prospect of falling flat on your face in front of an audience of almost a billion people makes for being cautious...and appearing a bit stiff.
