Need help identifying a tree (by its bloom) and a nest that hangs from it

The below tree is across the street from my house in Birmingham, Alabama. I would like to know what kind it is, so thanks in advance to you flora-minded folk. It also has a nest hanging from one of the branches; I haven't seen this sort of nest before. Thanks for any light y'all can shed on this for me.

the nest looks like an oriole nest - not being in U.S. I can't identify the specific type.
