The coolest thing

Christine Mitchell , Feb 10, 2012; 06:56 a.m.

Here is a link to one of the coolest things I've ever stumbled upon on the web. I'd love it if you'd share a link to your coolest thing too so we can all check it out.

Those are AMAZING Christine, thanks for the link !

Neat Christine. Thanks.

The guy who sent me this link asked, "Doesn't that make you feel insignificant?" I respnded, "I already know I'm insignificant. That's how I can live my life with such brazen abandon." Hope you like it: http://images.4channel.org/f/src/589217_scale_of_universe_enhanced.swf

I want a pooktre toilet, with the tree guy holding TP in one horribly creepy limb-hand and Jokes For the John in the other horribly creepy limb-hand.

You realize, of course, a century from now when scientists discover trees are sentient beings who simply move very slowly and communicate in languages we're too ignorant to comprehend, that this will be seen as the darkest period in human exploitation of our fellow creatures. Just sayin'.

Re trees being sentient beings, I was thinking the same thing. Looking at the photos reminded me of African cranial deformation and Chinese foot binding practices.

There are so many cool things out there, and the Internet has provided a conduit to them without which we would never know they existed. My most recent exposure is a community of model makers who have hand-built petrol powered V12 engines in miniature.

Michael they are the new prototypes for American truck man, Ford 0.150 ;-)

Shhh...
...did you hear that?

Oh noooes, the Ents are pissed!

Tim Lookingbill , Feb 10, 2012; 06:36 p.m.

Well I saw something new with that one, Christine. I never seen trees like that nor did I know they could be grown to look that way. Thanks for posting this.

For now the only thing I could find that says cool is a song (that kind of fits with your trees) I finally found posted online of Gerry Mulligan's "Splendor In The Grass" from the album I have on CD. I swear I play this in my head on constant rotation because it's got to be the coolest song played by the coolest baritone saxophonist...enjoy.

Phil, I saw that just the other day. I love it too. I had lots of fun exploring the universe and I already realized what an insignificant speck I am in it. Nice way to visualize that.

Lex, I have no doubt that growing things have awareness if not sentience. In fact, the Christine theory is that everything has awareness of some sort. Why should our molecules have awareness and a rock or a tree not? Trees are probably more Ent-like that we know.

Michael, very impressive engines. I'm not an engine person but I realize that everyone has to spend their time somehow, right? That is a very creative way to do that. In fact, it's the diversity of creativity that I find amazing.

Tim, that's music I could listen to for a very long while. I've never been much of a saxophone fan - it always seems so high testosterone and Lisa Simpson is the only female player that I know of - so thank you for showing me another side of that instrument, and another mellower side of jazz.

Maybe pooktres are genetically modified to consider it an honor to be shaped into picnic tables and lawn chairs. Kinda like the cattle at the Last Restaurant In The Universe. "I'll just nip off and chop myself down."

I want one shaped like a lumberjack chopping down another pooktre.

BTW, Lisa Simpson and her sax went back to the 1980s future and changed her name to Rindy. Yay, poodle perms and Star Trek shortsleeve jumpsuits.
