Trick to use ISO 3200 at your Olympus E-500

Otniel Yoreiza , Jan 12, 2007; 12:48 p.m.

It's just like a cheat on video game but it's really work, hahahaha

okay let's start step by step:

1. Turn on your camera 2. open your camera cf card cover 3. press "play" & "Ok" button together 4. press "up" ; "down" ; "left" ; "right" and the end with pressing "shutter" button

You will see it on your LCD : Page 1 (with some text beneath it)

5. continue by press "up" ; "left" ; "down" ; "right" in sequence 6. press "down" (you will enter to page three - the test mode) 7. then press "exposure compentation" ; "right" ; "down" ; "shutter" ; "ok"in sequence

You will see a variabel like this in your LCD :

prg item 0 0

If Button combination in number 7 is not work, try this combination : "exposure compensation" ; "mettering" ; "down" ; "shutter" ; "ok" in sequence too

8. Change the variabel of "prg" to 10 and the variabel of "item" to 18 (to use ISO 3200) or you can change the "item" variabel to 0 (to use ISO 50)

It's also possible to use many ISO number just by change "item" variabel from 0 up to 20

9. Close your CF card cover and you will can use this ISO number to take the picture (You will see Your ISO setup as auto in your LCD)

This ISO number will keep until you change your ISO setup on your LCD

Just Try it, not only other Brand that can use ISO 50-3200

Fell a noiseless & speedy Photography with Your Olympus

Just tell me if you against any trouble....

hehehehe

Thx 4 read....

Otneil, Thanks. Alas, I couldn't really tell which was the high ISO photo and couldn't really navigate too well. It is possible to post something and later remove it, if you are up against a limit here. Regards, Dan Kapsner

Probably a stupid question. Will this work on E-300? Did you manage to post some photos at ISO 3200?

Try this website, you upload photos for free: http://www.gfoto.com/

Thanks, Simon

Well here's a shot at 3200 if you can get to it... http://www.flickr.com/photos/jameye2/360152004/ if you can't let me know.

I had to try it a couple times before the parameter screen popped up. Kinda cool. I like taking HS basketball pics, so might try a few in the gym. I didn't try ISO 50 yet. Later

Jim, Happy to read your note and to see your test pic. Do you have a pic in 'normal 3200 mode' of those pencils? I have not tried to make this 'hack' but I might if you post one more pic...

This all works until you get the latest firmware which will disable this hack. I was loving using ISO 50, then upgraded firmware and can't get into the diagnostic menus anymore. Big BUMMER.

This is amazing!! I'll try it.

To the latest poster: What firmware version do you have on the E-500?
