I got the adapter and tested with a 24 f2.8, 50mm f1.8 and 135 f2.8.
It is very hard to focus for me, maybe I will ge a focusing screen if I start to shoot a lot with those MF lenses, and
maybe another adapter.

Hard to focus

I have used M42 lenses on my E-510, and got some good results, but, I agree, focusing with the stock 510 screen is difficult.

It's possible to get focus confirmation via firmware update? For manual lenses of cuorse.
Jim Nichols , Oct 06, 2008; 02:03 p.m.
Claudio, my adapter has a focus confirmation chip installed on it. It works intermittently, possibly because I was not able to get it perfectly aligned with the body contacts, even after removing and reinstalling it. That said, even when it "is" working, it does not provide perfect focus. I find myself relying on the viewfinder image more often than the FC dot to determine focus. Others may have better luck.

I don't have a focus confirmation chip in my adapter, but I understand that you have to program it for a particular focal length, so you either have multiple chips or you reprogram every time you change lenses. Is this correct?
Jim Nichols , Oct 09, 2008; 12:21 p.m.
Brian, as I understand it, the "programming" is only required to optimize the image stabilization function in the camera so that it works with the longer lenses. I don't think it applies to the focus confirmation function. Others may have a better understanding of this. I leave the FL set to 55mm and the max aperture set to 2.8.
