Durian from Inside by Avinash Kumar Srivastav | 2014-04-17
Still Life/Studio

Durian from Inside Durian is regarded as the "King of Fruits" in Southeast Asia. It is distinctive for its large size, strong odour and formidable thorn-covered husk. Some people regard durian as pleasantly fragrant while others find its aroma overpowering and revolting.During my visit to Kualalumpur, Malaysia, I visited the nearby town of Broga to try the King of Fruits myself. When cut, the fruit was as beautiful to look as repelling its aroma was. Colourful 'Durian from Inside' was captured on hand-held Canon 550 D with Canon 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS kit-zoom-lens. Comments & suggestions are solicited.

Brief History by Jim Downs | 2014-04-17
Architecture

Owner of Waldorf-Astoria Hotel begins building this on islet in St. Lawrence Seaway in 1900 to honor his wife. She dies in 1904 before its completion and he abandons project in despair. It sits there crumbling until 1977 when Canadian government restores and completes to be a tourist attraction. There you have it. Your history lesson for today.

Illuminated Twin Towers by Avinash Kumar Srivastav | 2014-04-17
Travel

Shot in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia the picture depicts beautifully illuminated Petronas Twin Towers, the tallest twin-towers in the world. They are the the icon of Kuala Lumpur & Malaysia. Each one of these identical towers has an eight-lobed circular structure containing 88 stories of occupiable space and a pyramid-shaped pinnacle surmounted by a slender steel spire. The twin-towers rise to a height of 1,483 feet including 242 feet for pinnacle and spire. Each building is supported by 16 large columns around its perimeter, which, along with the rest of the frame, are made of high-strength, steel-reinforced concrete and the exterior sheath consists of stainless steel and glass. A Sky-Bridge links the two towers between the 41st and 42nd stories. Comments & suggestions are solicited.
