Jim, congrats on having one of the most spectacular portfolios I have seen, arguably the overall best I've ever seen. The extent of your creative manipulations and unique imagery is utterly fascinating, and I think I could spend an hour enjoying each image. Nothing Ive ever seen can compare to this - you are definitely one of the greatest photographers here at photo.net. Thanks for sharing.

Sci fi
I love this portfolio. I would say you probably have a great career ahead of you, if you aren't already making tons of money at what you do. You have an eye that is very unique, that gives the world a view that it might never have known existed, and afterall, photography isn't just about documenting what you see in the world, but also about what we only imagine we could see if we had the right eyes. Nice work.

Homage
Manet, Magrite and Geiger(?) would be honoured at the homages you have payed them here. Your images shows the skill and hard work of a true master of your field. I could see you winning many awards for newspaper and magazine illustration with your amazing photo-illustrations. Great stuff!
Are you working in the photoillustration field?

KIND REGARDS!
Hi Jim, As a newcomer to photo.net it took me a while before I decided to post anything up for critique. The first few weeks, I basically spent my time browsing some of the fine work that is readily available on the site. A few photographers caught my eye for simply outstanding work. These individuals were not admirable based on a single superlative image but rather for the solidity of their entire body of work.
As I look at the list of names that I wrote down several weeks ago, which includes the like of Yuri Bonder, Piotr Kowalik and Vincent K. Tyler, amongst others, I notice that, sitting right on top is that of one Jim McNitt. I must admit that your rendition of Modigliani's Daughter is indeed a work of genius.
That you have taken the time to look at my work and give it such a high rating is indeed an honour (forgive the "u", that's how we Canucks spell it up here). I do find it amusing, however, that someone with such talent as you in photo-compositions would find it difficult to handle the hand-alteration process. I'm absolutely positive that, if you ever got a hold of it, the resulting images would be just as striking as the rest of your work.
Thnak you! for your fine, fine work and for having taken the time to stop by. Best regards!
Peter Pham , March 22, 2004; 07:36 P.M.

I do thank you for taking the time to communicate with me. Your body of work has been inspirational for me at least. I guess I should partly credit my maturation process as an artist to such great influences such as you. To take the leap to unknown and what is uncomfortable is not a popular thing to do. Do you remember giving me this advice? ?Do what moves you and don?t worry about being liked?! I am doing just that. Thanks Jim.

Whew, what a diverse and creative portfolio, all you Pro's have no idea how inspiring your images are to me, and I glean so many ideas from you all. I'm fascinated by your "manipulated" images, I'm still struggling with PS Elements 3 Quick Fix Editor! I love saturated colors and lot's of intrique in a photo and you certainly deliver. Thank you.

It's not photography
Jim,
Your work shows an interesting aesthetic and good PS skills.
But it's not photography, IMO.
Your images don't exhibit a photographic vision, and the "photographs" used may as well have been clipped from magazines, scanned and used in your graphic art.
Again, interesting and talented graphic art - but it's not photography, IMO.

Jim, nice to see your P.net portfolio honored. You are one of the few, "digital artists" I've seen that so succesfully combines photography and graphics to create your vision/s. For some reason, I havn't fathomed, i have not been that attracted to a multi-media approach to photography, especailly as I've seen it here. But yours has depth to it and Its interseting and fun to peruse your work.
Cheers

Jim it is certainly very impressive what you manage to get out of your camera and darkroom. I find great pleasure in swimming around in your pool of imagination, dreams and nightmares.
In my view, sometimes, your imagination and your photoshop skills run away with you and you end up with very impressive scenes but not necessarily very aesthetical results - not to mention the artistic dimension. Among all this unbound fantasy one finds however small simple wonders like your "Early steps" of two small children in a port or "Crowded?, of a dome as well as the extremely well mastered photo collage with a wonderful title : ?Approaching New York City from the Left". All together a very impressive portfolio.

Just absolutely unique
I wish I had the creativity that seems to be flowing in your blood. The pictures in your portfolio are so unique and beautiful. It is a far cry from the standard photographs we see every day on photo.net. They are a cross between photography and paintings and while in most instances this cross-over almost hurts to look at, you have mastered this art to perfection. I look forward to seeing more of your creations.

Jim I am not sure if I'm inspired or discouraged! I can't get a single flower right! But since I am very new and certainly not a quitter I will look to your work as a bench mark for what photography could/should be. So I will shoot more, experiment more and most definitely study your fine portfolio whenever I need inspiration, humbling and/or a boost! Thanks for sharing your talents with those of us who can only imagine one day producing such shots! <>< Sonny <><

The journey through your portfolio:great inspirations. Elements from Bosch, Dali and more. Yes Wondering is BOSCH. We are near in our imaginations. My method is FOTOUNIFICATION - not computerwork - no photoshop (also time withtwowatches analog F100 shot)!: light, prints of the original paintings - an idea - the three dimensional object and a right perspective. Reinvention of the GENIUS of other ages - or ... . Thanks for visiting and your comments. Yes CARNEVAL might be a head line. I visited in SPAIN SALVADORE. See you soon. BR Joerg

This portfolio has been an absolute revealtion and an eye-opener for me. I have always wanted to spend more time with doing 'creative' post-processing, but I suddenly realise there is a dash sight more than just wanting to do 'things'. I love your work! best wishes ~ mike

cerebellum tickling
Your Photos are wickedly fun, charming, inventive and beguiling. A wonderful work of imagination and talent. Little bits of optical indulgence, and cerebellum tickling delights.
I will defiantly be back to see more.

Jim
Besides being a damn fine photographer, you are a supernatural surrealist. I don't think you have a single image in your portfolio that is not superior. You are a master at your craft.

Jim,
Thank you for commenting on my photos and that is what led me to your portfolio. After looking at each of your photos and reading all the wonderful comments about your portfolio, I spent most of the morning wandering through a wonderful place I have never been before. Your portfolio is truly magical. It seemed to cast a spell on me and I never wanted to leave. You are very creative and I thank you for sharing all this "magic" with all of us. Linda

Hello Jim
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at ART DISTRICT and letting me know about your work. I have just looking at your site and have been deeply spoken to and touched. Simply incredible vision and execution. Right at the top of the class. Please keep me posted on new work.

Thank you
I can not thank you enough for taking the time to rate my photograph. I am always curious to see the work of those who leave ratings and comments. I looked at your portfolio and was in disbelief that anyone with so much talent would take the time to leave me a comment. After reading your biography I chanced to glance down and see an article written about your work. I opened it and was yet again, in disbelief. You are very accomplished and I am very appreciative for your time. I have a passion for photography but lack much knowledge about the basics. I am learning and your words have encouraged me very much. By the way, how much fun was it to be on a tall ship? I sailed aboard the Maryland Dove, a short-tall ship, for a few years and I had the best time. Thank you again for your attention, Sarah

I am visiting your gallery after a gap. Its really a nice experience to view the images here. Perhaps the last time I visited, the mixed media images were not there. I like your mixed mixed media work and expect to see more of it. And thank you Jim for your visit and very nice words. Best regards.

Jim, you are wonderful person and the best artist in the world. I admire your work. It is very unique in the whole fine art. Do not know what is better, your technique to manage composites or the way you are telling us your stories. I will always be your greatest fan. (Besides: sidewalks are great ;-))
Cheers from Croatia. darko
