Beautiful, Strange, Creative, Inspiring
Definitely one of among many creative and highly individual portfolios. While many at this forum seek to capture the beauty or the ugliness that's out there, your work is certainly on the other side of the spectrum. Not many photographers like you here. These pictures stand out from a mile away.
Thanks for the inspiration! Please continue!

Re: Help!
Dear Elena & Vitaly Vasilieva,
moi herasho, let me congratulation u becuse your beautiful photos, I like your work. Pazhalosta don't care about rates! and don't care who rates!!! everywhere u can find some bugs! do u know what is SPAM?! they r spam! so don't care about them and do your job, that must be enough for u that some professional photographers like Misha M, Youri, and .... not only rate you but it must be a honer that they visit your photos(anyhow u r one of them, means professional as they are). it means your photos are very good (ochin herasho!)
I enjoy your beautiful photos and appreciate you. waiting for new from u. excuse my English and Russian ;) Regards
Michael Avlaris , March 31, 2005; 02:36 P.M.

Great job!!! I just found your folder but I manager to look at all your shots and admire a very distinct eye. IMHO, I think that you have a distinctive stile followed by your very artistic creativity. Keep up the work and don?t get caught up with the ratings. I think the most important thing is the comments.
Regards,

ratings
Excerllent words Mohammed Reza!!! I contributed a lot of pictures here. some good I think, some less. And whenI got low ratings I felt that I was a bad photographer. But now, after all these months here and knowing the work of real phjotogarphers it shows that those people are the real raters. Look at Hugo Paez, Ken Thalheimer and you Elena and Vitaly. Don't look at the 1/1 rating and don't look at the 7/7 as well. look at the serious critiques you get and what people comment on your work. We can never all like one persons work. Not even everybody likes Rembrand or van Gogh. So don't get disturbed by the amateurs here or the SPAMS/BOTS and just go on with your wondefull/special/creative work!
Elena & Vitaly Vasilieva , April 10, 2005; 06:07 A.M.
frans hartman
Thanks for your attention. I, not when did not look at a rating and estimations. But here absolutely an another matter. There are such people here on a site, that constantly comes and put to me 1-1 and 2-2, and I understand it as wrecking. It is difficult for me to write about themselves, but I am sure precisely, that I not not 䮱 to have one shot 1-1 *** But let these to people it becomes easier than that they to me underestimate a rating. But they cannot know, that it is not enough of them. Thanks. Greetings. Elena

It appears that some people are affraid of the dark. I kind of like the dark and sinister tone that so much of your work has. It gives it character. Although, I must say, there's something about bondage that turns me off, but that's probably a personal hangup of my own. Keep your style going. It stands out among the crowd.
Also, Not sure what Vadim Onishchenko is referring to when he warns us of clones, as most (or all) of the links he's provided lead us nowhere. Seems rather pointless.

You are true transcendentalists
I have persued many forms of artistic expression throughout the years, both in the creation myself, and the viewing of others works. But with yours, I will openly admit that this is the first time in the entire span of my life that artwork has been so inexplicably beautiful that it has brought me to tears - that something so lovely could be composed in a viewable form, and yet be the perfect capture of raw emotion. Please never stop following your calling, the world needs breathtaking inspiration such as this, it makes everything else worthwhile.

The unprecedented antidemocratic certificate of the authorities of Ukraine!!!
Along the Wall
Return to a totalitarian Soviet mode!!! Today, on July, 29th, 2009 under the order of highest authorities of art media Vitaly Vasilieva and Evgenie Matveeva's project "Along a wall" in Art gallery «Art arsenal» IS CLOSED!!!!!!!! Ask all democratic public and mass media to support.
Art-Media Project
Along the Wall
The idea and project realization in association
Elena/Vitaliy Vasilievy and Eugeniy Matveyev
The project is strict, clear, laconic and provocative. An oddity became the basis of the project. Human strangeness as a component of the Universe. Homo sapiens can not live without obstructiveness. This is a cosmic necessity, which forces to overcome these obstacles selflessly. The wall (obstacle) built with titanic efforts is broken through with own forehead in direct and figurative meaning. Obstacles are erected on own and not own initiative. In the second case the obstacles have been built long time ago and securely. They are based on the mass of prejudices, false postulates, and pseudo-scholarly approach of lying prophets, adventurers and rascals. The more closely to our time, the more securely such actions are fastened with tough state structures and religious prejudices – the concrete, which needs the decades and even centuries of collective efforts to be destroyed. First of all, any wall blocks the way to freedom – freedom of thought, freedom of self-expression, freedom of self-realization, decision-making freedom without depending upon people opinion. At the same time the thesis of Spinoza – «Freedom is the realized necessity» –arouses in the brain a diversified set of questions which are not so easy to be answered. The project «Along the Wall» is just about it. Freedom a priori can not be based on violence and humiliation of someone similar to oneself, on indifference to pain and sufferings of people around, on satisfaction of ravenous wishes. At the same time the existent pseudo-moral laws and pseudo- ethics norms are those walls, that obstacle, which breaks a spiritual development of the humanity. These laws and norms, covered with mould of centuries, never truly worked, because in fact, they were dead. Examples are simple, convincing and laconic. Ancient Israelite and the Roman empire, elimination of Inca and American Indians, Inquisitions or imperialistic wars, Nazi Germany or communist genocide of the USSR, modern Iraq and Afghanistan. Millions of killed. Millions of disabled fates. And that is not all. Long time ago laws and norms turned into the original religious game, in international fanatic act of terrorism, which in the final analysis generate fear, disbelief, indifference and disappointment. At the present time, in a very crisis world, contradictions and conflicts are shown up more obviously, the gap between poverty and wealth is increasing more and more, egoism does not know the limits. There are all reasons to suppose that the humanity is already on the threshold of the next ruinous war in which no one knows who will win and whether there will be winners in general.
The art-project «Along the Wall» consists of 10 compositions (1, 5 x 3 m each) and one video-art. All compositions and video-art do not have the names intentionally and are marked with numbers. «Uncovering 1», «Uncovering 2», «Uncovering 3» etc. «Uncovering» is associated with the paradise and hell simultaneously. It is the original strained nerve on which 11 nerve centers are located and each of them is responsible for a certain world problem. A spectator is invited into the coauthor of the project and is responsible for the exarticulation of his/her own problem, hidden grounds and author’s reflections are in help for him here. These are not strict compositions in the spirit of the German academic manner and neither nudist nor erotic motives are taken off with the hidden photo camera. This is the key to understand an own and someone else’s problem.
Let every spectator, at least mentally, to stand in front of the mirror, preferably against the background of the wall, along which he sneaks through the life. It is a lazy person, who is not remembering Freud nowadays. The project “Along the Wall” has nothing in common with psycho-analysis. A spectator will have something to think about, if he wants to look into his hidden desires and reasons of the variety of his own actions, without help of the doctor, medium or artist. All compositions are planned and carried out as complete mirrors with a lot of aesthetic, ethics and philosophical implications. Probably, a spectator will manage to single out certain tendencies, artistic and composition principles, moral and ethics norms. Probably. But that is not the point. In the long run the life depends only upon that, how everyone lives it through. Authors expect to give to the environment that energy of behind the mirror, which led them from one nerve centre to another while project’s realization. It is not a dogma. The experimental is not completed. These centers and nervous strings appeared to have no ends at all.
Sincerely Yours.
Creators.

“Along the wall”
A wall. Along the wall, around, in the middle of it or however there is spying from the height of bird’s flying. And eventually what the meaning it has? But provided to be it has. Our and your lives, our and their feelings, dreams, hopes, despair, love, joy, sorrow, philosophy, psychology, parapsychology, psycho-analysis, diagnosis could be the wall. From bricks folded the wall. The wall can be real and imaginary, perceptible by touch and taste or hidden in labyrinth of subconsciousness, that there is no hope for understanding, even not speaking about the truth discovering. It appears that the Truth is not the one, as it is written in a school textbook. Strangely, but there are neither two no even more truths. How many people on the planet - so many truths. And everybody has own truth. And what we are talking about after the listening of 90 seconds shocking video of preamble to the articles of domestic constitution in execution of naked woman? Come to mind all the last contemporary gatherings. I didn’t hear about such things in Venice, didn’t see in Geneva and didn’t read about something analogical on Document or the Manifest. So there was not the same thing! It appears that this is the modern artistic product is executed by three artists - by the married couple of Vasil'evyh and Matveevym. The thing is obviously meaningful, because it is not contained in usual measuring of artistic values. The authenticity of multimedia, super-modern, grotesque composition which is offered for contemplation and consumption on nine enormous (1,5 x 3 m) black-and-white photos strikes with dimensions at first, then by art and at last by the energy field which pulls in a spectator and turns him into a coauthor. At first it appeared that artists obviously had applied provocative, totalitarian method of large crowd. So were done before in a fine art, especially in architecture of the totalitarian states. The states died a long ago, but the art is remained. There is nothing to argue whether the creativity of Leni Riefenstahl, Dovzhenko, Brekkera, Torakka or Fomina were genius or not. We all got from critics on the certain stages of own and somebody else’s fine art studying. There are no critics already, decayed, but works are there. Genius patterns of real history. And when someone burned in a tank or airplane, or gave the young life on the eventual border of the Second World War, saturated with bravura marches, encouraged by films and enormous forms of modern buildings which were raised of ruined sacred places, don’t judge the artists who created that art. Look into the artist soul. Creators are not guilty that see the future. Advice is simple. It is needed to listen and look carefully.
The mental field of modern man does not depend on religion, country, where a man lives, or party affiliation. It seems strange, but all around is hidden under thick layer of strong power streams. This mad energy has ubiquitous character. The power character. The way of energy is impossible to see or hear. Not to hide from it. It is a substance which is impossible to sell, to purchase, to scare or ignore. The action of energy to my surprise is laconic. It is not measured by the ordinary scale of values. It is a dogma and necessity. The artist as a surgeon. The difference is that doctor’s work is obvious, and a result is predictable. The result can be positive or negative, but for us – those who investigates contemporary, it has no sense. A fact is fixed. And indeed there is nothing personal. In fact the artist is a bearer of possibility of diagnosis making in public, and sometimes a doctor. His instrument and medications is image. As in the case of surgeon, image can be successful or unsuccessful. Difference is that that unlike a doctor in a traditional white surgical coat, where it is a method of calming and deception of patient, the artist provokes reflections. The way of reflection is unforeseeable. The artist can not help to swallow a pill, he can prompt the way for understanding of represented. Subconsciousness of every spectator – consumer of artistic product - is deeply individual. All other arguments are hopeless.
Works presented in a project are not integrated in cycles. Absence of cycle’s system of represented is the hidden code to understanding. Certainly, in spite of all attempts to be out of the policy of the difficult state, the project «Along the wall» is outlined as deeply patriotic and absolutely social. In numeral compositions created from naked people – characters, erotica is fully absent. This is the first whimsical warning and first conflict. Why so many beautiful bodies, located in enough sexual poses do not cause adequate to primary instinct senses. And vice-versa. The fight of nudes is not perceived as brutal, but exceptionally, as a theatrical stage. Expensive Bentley – the attribute of top of riches stands in a queue with other insignificant second-rate characters. And it appears that homosexual dance of man with another man, woman with a woman becomes only the instrument for perception of dressed dancing people on the background. Chaste girls with a doll in a hand look not at the man’s genitals, but at the thrown up woman. The frightful logic comes into sight. You know, king is really naked. It’s provided to be that if everything is permitted, there is no place for a crime. And completely incomprehensible is a reaction on the races of pairs, where the naked goes on naked. Attention is not concentrated on people, but on the walls of unfinished factory. And the question is not what game adults play, but why they still have not build the factory. Acceptable limit of white and black in perception underlines the belonging of authors - Matveev - professional Ukrainian artist, whose creation overcame all artistic domestic Olympus and modern photographers of the married couple of Vasil'evyh. Despite of total dislike of modern picture to monochrome measuring, the creative trio chooses exactly black-and-white option. It is a home purveyance. In fact, exactly black and white, world and abyss, gladness and sorrow, true and lie create the desired effect of tragedy in the project “Along the wall”. Tragic is always actual. The task of creators is brilliantly executed. The questions by what facilities to reproduce tragic feeling in an art, to deny the denial of life, how to show engrossing unbearable pain and consequently to be able to win in dishonest, unfair, lying and corrupt society, to win in the world of spirituality is the purpose of the project. And suddenly understand. The task is put and executed. Direct look to a life, which includes deep philosophical reflections, built on the skillfully promulgated notes, sketches, in the receipt of the exactly those impressions which completed the world of the kaleidoscopic phenomena. That is why the project should be seen only together. It is impossible to tear up from a context some successful one, two or even three works. Every next composition continues previous and begins the following. A circle does not finish, but allow to spectator to go out into the next trip. The circle is endless as a life. There are no advices at all. The artists did not want to help someone. The desire is different. It is transparent and clear. It is provocation, game with the mental field of spectator. Till the end there is one request.
Think and understand. Give a mark by yourself. Do not watch in neighbour’s notebook. There can be an error. Any own estimation will be correct. The artists deny nothing, they just offer. And category «like» or «dislike» is not the study of art. In the real life there is not enough the study of art. But probably it is not needed in the conditions of global crisis. The artists did not feed you with fish soup. They showed the way. Whether will you go? Do not know. Business is voluntary.

Such an inventive display of the female form. Endless variations. Just a little reminiscent of Jan Saudek, but different too and has more grace than I could even imagine.
