Michael,

You have some finely composed and exposed images here. Whilst I find that 18 months and thousands of exposures are only just bringing me towards a photographic understanding, I would say that you have reached a good level of appreciation about what you are doing (maybe not, but the images here do at least suggest as much).

Composition

I know that there are many top flight photographers who post on Photo.net. But having just opened your folder and viewed the thumbnail images, it appears you have a very keen ability to compose a shot. I make no claims of greatness; but in the last 20+ years, I hve given more than casual attention to thousands of pictures and in the beginning read several good how-to books. One of the FIRST things nearly all will teach regarding composition is the Rule of Thirds. Not all settings provide for that rule; but where you could, you employed it. Otherwise, you have managed to do great compositions on the other shots. I hope you don't think I'm "blowing smoke," as they say. I am very impressed with how you frame a shot.

You have an excellent eye for manipulating color, texture and softness. Great work! (Happy Birthday to you too! There's a free concert in New Brunswick if you're in the area!)

Hello Friend!

Well here it is another year is passing away and we are coming into the holidays. I think time starts to go faster as we get older, it was just yesterday I wished my friends Happy Holidays and here it is again the end of a year. The holiday lights are starting to be put on some of the trees here in Dallas, we were out last night and some were lighting the trees. I wish for you all a holiday season with family and friends, after all is said and done all we have is each other.

I want all of you to know just what your comments and ratings on my work means to me, your words are my motivation, my drive to discover, to learn this art that we all love, thank you for taking time and thank you for caring about my works. At the same time thank you for letting us see your world, our lives are so much the same, we all care about our families and friends and we all share the same things, maybe someday our photos will help make for a lasting world peace. May you and your family be blessed this season.

Happy Holidays and Happy Shooting

Ken

Lawrence Mayer , November 30, 2007; 06:42 P.M.

Thanks for sharing great work

In fact, for me this work is at the limit between great to unreal. There is a marvelous sense of naturalism yet it touches on the surreal. I love it. It is obvious, I venture to say, you do A LOT of post production work. Of course your subjects and compositions are all expert and keen eyed. I must learn how to process images but have yet to shoot RAW. I certain you do.

I look forward to more great art.

Roger Harper , December 10, 2007; 12:11 P.M.

Truly Amazing Portfolio, Michael.
