It always inspires me when I see a nice portfolio of film photos, Paolo, and yours is a strong collection of beautiful photos. You have quite a discerning eye for a nice landscape. Your work with the older folders and the Pentacon Six is especially impressive. Very admirable.

My friend your work speaks volumes the compositions are intriguing, colours enticing locations moving. I have travelled around Europe myself quite a bit and have seen many of the sights displayed here I'm just recently back from Liguria where I spent some time in Porto Monte Rosso, I just missed the Madonmna Bianca festival as I had work in London to do. (next year I suppose!)

Hi Paolo, as per your invite in the critique forum I did have a look at your portfolio and all I can say is that your photos kept me rather glued to my computer for maybe an hour ...if not longer. Prima di tutto grazie per il consiglio che mi hai dato sull'acqua del porticciolo di Manarola.A dire il vero Ho appena acquistato un monitor ed evidentemente non ho ancora trovato l'equilibrio corretto, di fatto l'immagine che a me appariva era molto piu' luminosa che vista con altri monitor. Hello Paolo, I am thankful for your kind comments on my recent post of "Roxborough Remembered". I expected more from that image but it goes to show: P.N. members can be a ruthless bunch if you are not politically correct. I probably don't observe the unwritten rules the way I should. I love your collection, I have looked it over thoroughly and it has led me to your site. Beautifully done, great navigation and very elegant appearance. I am in the process of re-designing my website because it is in my opinion uninspiring. I will let you know when it is complete. Your photography is brilliant to say the least. If I were to make one comment it would be that you have too many photos in your portfolio that are so similar. I am guessing that you use P.N. as an editing tool, as I do. I usually eliminate the lesser accepted images to keep my portfolio concise. Just my thoughts, as many of your similar images are all truly acceptable and only differ in subtle nuances. I am rambling, as I sometimes will. All the best to you and keep em coming!!

If I look at your sea imges - you probably got your camera wet a few times! (like myself :-) )

I feel fortunate to have come across your work as I feel there is much to be learnt from your style of shooting resulting in outstanding compositions. Your landscapes and the variations among them give insightful hints in themselves as how to improve compostions, it's not often to see this among other portfolios, mine inculded as I tend to shoot only 2 or 3 shots of the scene and prepare only one for print & web use. You on the other hand enlighten us with variations of the same scene wether by means of composition or slightly different exposure or use of blending/grads. I look forward to seeing more of your work along with reading your comments on other peoples work. Overall an inpressive portfolio!

una galleria eccezionale...........sono arrivato da poco cu photo.net quindi non ho ancora avuto modo di apprezzare tutto quello che il sito offre.....mi sono imbattutto assai piacevolmente nella tua gallery che trovo super.........mi piacciono assai i lavori di lunghe exp diurne.....ancora non possiedo filtri ND, ma dopo aver visto le tue strepitose foto mi sa che corro a comprarlo !!!!!! Ciao bellissimo portfolio! Sono stato attratto dallo scatto in BN del Cervino e non ho potuto fare a meno di guardare il resto! Bellissimi paesaggi. Vedo che ti diletti con esposizioni lunghe... è un genere in cui mi piacerebbe cimentarmi procurandomi un po' di attrezzatura adatta come filtri... vedo che usi il x1000 della B+W... credevo fosse un filtro un po' esagerato ma vedo che lo riesci ad usare anche in ore non centrali con tempi non biblici e spesso in associazione a un graduato ND... cosa usi per questi? Cokin o altro? Montando tutto il sistema sopra il B+W? Comunque complimenti, bellissimo portfolio che trovo personalmente carico d'ispirazione. Ciao, Mattia

Ciao Paolo, mi spiace lasciarti una piccola critica, solo perchè trovo splendidi i paesaggi naturali da Te fotografati e.. la manipolazione sui colori e sul movimento la trovo troppo esagerata.(DE GUSTIBUS!) Non sono una fotografa solo mi definisco un' "artista" in tanti settori , per cui tra tante cose alle fine su nulla.. mi farebbe però piacere ricevere almeno due foto di Vernazza .. e il ponte del diavolo "devil's bridge" più naturali , se vuoi. pepolino@libero.it

Le due foto alle quali ti riferisci tuttavia sono evidenti elaborazioni digitali fatte con lo scopo di dare alle immagini un aspetto pittorico, più che fotografico. E sono dichiaratamente tali, incluse in una cartella che si chiama "digital elaborations". Mi spiace, ma temo di non avere altre rappresentazioni di queste due immagini da inviarti.

Oggi ti ho incontrato anche qui. Ho appena finito il viaggio tra le tue bellissime foto. Continuo ad ammirare in modo particolare quelle dove più forte è l'atmosfera e più suggestivi sono i contrasti di luce. Mi sono registrato a PN alcuni anni fa ma ho iniziato ad inserire foto solo da un mese circa. Il forum floreale di NPN è molto bello e mi ci trovo benissimo ma mi sto accorgendo che progressivamente mi uniformo al loro modo di vedere e scattare foto floreali. Mi sto spersonalizzando. Per questo ho deciso di frequentare, in aggiunta, un sito diverso. NP ha foto bellissime, un forum eccezionale, è organizzato molto bene. Ma non posso dire queste cose a te, che sei un veterano. Terrò d'occhio le tue nuove foto. Ciao.

Paolo, I have visited Italy many years ago...travelled from France by car (my work), to Geneva, through Mount Blanc, on to Milan and then Rome. We went through a fierce blizzard in the mountains.....I was only 19.......that visit left an 'imprint' on my heart for 'Italy'.....I marvelled at the countryside and I only saw just a 'slice'. It is my dream to one day go back. I watch every travel show I can that has anything to do with your beautiful country. Thanks to you, now, I can see much more of the Beauty that 'overcame' me at such a young age. Your Portfolio is truly a 'masterpiece' in itself. Your words as you describe your homeland are spoken with 'love'.....I pray it stays peaceful for many years to come. Too much beauty in our world is disappearing.......Thanks to the customs of your country......'I am the LAST one to leave the DINNER TABLE!!!! E' un po' che ti tengo d'occhio e finalmente voglio lasciare il mio commento (ovviamente positivo) al tuo portfolio.

Essendo un uomo "padano" non posso che prediligere le tue foto di paesaggio nelle piane piemontesi, soprattutto in quelle condizioni atmosferiche (nebbia e gelo) che tanti odiano, ma che io personalmente amo per la capacità di trasformare cose e situazioni altrimenti molto scialbe.

Hai uno stile fresco e pulito, sostenuto da una grande tecnica fotografica e traspare nelle tue fotografie. Forse è per questo motivo che le foto nella cartella "Digital elaborations" sono quelle che prediligo di meno, poichè modificano e ricoprono il tuo stile unico, ma questa è solo la mia umile e personale opinione.

Concludendo ti faccio le mie più sincere congratulazioni per gli splendidi lavori e per la condivisione con questa community: sono davvero una grande fonte di ispirazione e di miglioramento per me!
