Welcome to p/n, have just had a browse of your portfolio. 18 images is not a lot but it is enough for me to make you one of my interesting people. Some very nice work indeed, and I will look forward to returning. Great start!!

Thanks for the comment on my Rose Bud picture. We have similar photo backgrounds and I enjoyed looking at your pictures. You should really get into Photoshop as it can take you to new creative levels. If you have time take another look at the Rose Bud picture. In the critique section I posted the original raw file of the picture and you can get an idea of the power of Photoshop. Thanks again for your comment.

Hey Gordon

Thanks for the comment. The Scout picture was on and slight slant but it was more the angle of the rug that made it appear even more so; anyway I've made a correction and have posted it. If you have the time, you opinion will be appreciated. Thanks again, Gordon Leo

I was surprised to see your picture at the very top of the abstracts so I paid a visit to your portfolio. You have a very personal and original vision free from many judgments affecting most photographers. I find your drive by shootings most interesting.

Joao Pereira , August 22, 2007; 07:42 A.M.

Very original, creative and talented photography, sincere congrats. (How do I understand you ! One of my best friends was a Great Pyr, my pal for 12 years. She died two years ago and I still didn't quite recover from the loss). Greetings from Portugal

Cyp.

Wow,

useless as far as taking photo. These looked better than many pro. Cyp. formosianum's stunningly beautiful. Cyp. arietinum & micranthum are insanely wicked! Cyp. montanum looks like Bo Derick in "10." One can only wish these features can be export to Paphs. & Phrags. [patterns, color, and the H-A-I-R-S! Hey, Texan ladies, Bee-Hives, move over! New queens of hair do are here!].

Good Job,

Just went through your portfolio again. Very fine stuff here. Your night shot of Inwood is still among my favorite pics posted on this site during the past few months. Also love the dog images -- and much else. Regards...

Wonderful portfolio with very personal style. Without any intension to downgrade other folders, I just adore the way you have photographed the dogs! Many thanks for your comments! All the best!

Thodoris Tzalavras , August 25, 2007; 10:18 A.M.

I really like your dog portraits, and the frost in your "White and Black" folder look impressive (how did you capture it?). Most of all though, I love what you've done with the flowers that you "found" Trapped Between Windows... Regards.

Gordon Bowbrick , August 25, 2007; 11:00 A.M.

Thodoris

The B&W frost shots were taken with a macro lens with the camera on a tripod and convert to B&W using channel mixer in CS2. Not much frost in Cyprus, but in my neighborhood the windows of my house have ice for months on end. I have a lot of these frost photos, most in colour. I will have to get more of them posted.

Vicente Concha , August 27, 2007; 09:47 A.M.

Hello Gordon.

Very creative Portfolio. Interesting study of the movement. The art in the photography is your true work. Splendid the orchids. Congratulations. Best wishes. Vicente.

Leslie Collins , August 27, 2007; 12:13 P.M.

Gordon

You have a very refreshing and interesting take on your subjects. The manipulation methods you employ are revealing a whole new world to me. I'm still exploring the mechanics of shutter speed and aperture! Will be watching closely to see what you come up with next! Thank you.

Gordon Bowbrick , August 27, 2007; 01:05 P.M.

Thanks Vicente I enjoy your work, and thanks also Leslie. Keep on with your exploring!! All of the manipulation you see in my work is the direct result of that same " exploring the mechanics of shutter speed and aperture " of which you wrote.

Leslie Collins , August 27, 2007; 09:58 P.M.

Gordon -

My head is swelling, but thanks.

Really helps to have your criticism, encouragement and inspiration - especially when one realizes the huge number of talented photographers already out there... a bit overwhelming. Thank you so much for your generosity.

Gordon Bowbrick , August 27, 2007; 10:55 P.M.

I agree wholeheartedly, this community is filled with many talented individuals. I find the experience a constant source of discovery and inspiration.

Latoya Brown , August 27, 2007; 11:29 P.M.

Hello

Gordon Bowbrick , August 28, 2007; 05:45 P.M.

Thanks Latoya I like the work you've been doing it has a realism that I admire. If you do try some daytime drive-by shots please post them and let me know. I'd love to see them, perhaps I should go out and try some at night.

Gordon, I was dying to get to your portfolio yesterday but couldn't because of the site being down. But now I'm here I must say how much I love your "Drive By Shootings" - excellent pictures with a great feeling of movement. And your puppies are pretty nice too :) I'll be back to look more often. Matthew Loeber , September 10, 2007; 06:03 P.M.

Hey Gord

Been meaning to get back to you since you left that generous and insightful comment on my site! Thanks so much for seeing the dedication to my technique as it's been a long road that is finally paying off a little! I've been through your portfolio and i think your technique is free and daring, as well as being creative in-camera like you said. Your drive by series is free from strict comp., yet seems composed beautifully! I love your motion studies and your various frost shots!! My favorite of yours is the shot of Darwin peacefully sleeping on the deck!! It's like a cloud sleeping in heaven, very soft texture wise with that great glow of light from the snow and the dog, i love it! Anyway i just wanted to get back to you and say what's up and thanks for stopping by, hope to hear from you again, Matthew.

Gordon Bowbrick , September 10, 2007; 06:26 P.M.

Thanks Matthew. The photo of Darwin sleeping on the deck was entered in a Dogs Annual magazine photo contest ( the only photo contest I've ever entered ) and took second place for the year, in its category. More importantly to me, the photo was published in a national magazine, my first and to date only published image. The shot was taken through the condensation on my glass back door, which is what gives it that soft focus portrait lens effect. Thanks for stopping by. I have great admiration for your art and return to your portfolio often to look about.

About Learning

Hello Gordon. No surprise, I'm sure, that your portfolio is one I wanted to visit after reading your post on the Casual Conversations forum, and I'm so glad I came here! Your body of work is so broad and deep, and just looking gives me all sorts of ideas I didn't have before. I especially like your penchant for looking at and showing subjects in unexpected ways. I'll certainly be back to study what's already here and to see what you do next. Thank you! ~ David

Fun images

Hi Gord,

Thanks for stopping by my portfolio and for your nice comments. It's nice to know that one's work is appreciated by another out of the box shooter. Your portfolio is wonderful, I especially like some of the motion/lens blur/zoom blur images, some of them have a very Ernst Haas feel. Looking forward to keeping up with your work...... Sherle

Mariana Shotova , September 27, 2007; 04:40 A.M.

Great portfolio! I am expecially impressed by the zooming technique of the flowers. I have noticed that few autors make such fotos. I am also intersting in this technique, but I am still trying, noting good soo far ... Best regards!

Matthew Loeber , September 27, 2007; 09:01 P.M.

Hey Gordo

Thanks for your comment that even puts me in the same class as Monet!! I'm humbled! Sometimes those simple little scenes, like drab row houses in the snow can be just as beautiful as sunsets in Maui! You know what i mean! Sometimes the simpler the better!! Anyway thanks! By the way I was in the forum conversation yesterday and I saw your comments and Fred's comments to Karman about taking a cold shower, hilarious and TRUE! Dude need to relax! The welding glasses comment is also right on, too much saturation!!! Less is more sometimes. Anyway your one of my fAVORITES to hear from, so keep in touch brother, Matthew.

Carly Michelson , October 05, 2007; 11:19 A.M.

I love every single photo in your portfolio. I was trying to decide which ones I liked best...but I gave up. You are incredibly talented.

Shea Riggenbach , October 10, 2007; 12:56 P.M.

Inspirational

I LOVE your portfolio, all of it...I find myself returning time and again. It's inspirational. Beautiful work, thank you for sharing. Hope your doing shows somewhere, if not, you should be. Darlene.

Dave Hollander , November 05, 2007; 07:05 P.M.

I just re-visited your portfolio: the edgy style is consistent but always serves a serious aesthetic sensibility. You keep opening new windows of vision and I appreciate the space you create.

June Ferrol , November 08, 2007; 02:37 P.M.

Gordon,

I'm glad I stopped by your portfolio - love your work, especially enjoyed 'motion study & frost'...wonderful! - regards, June.

Ryan Watts , November 09, 2007; 01:49 A.M.

Well Gordon, I'm sufficiently impressed with your in camera technique. I especially enjoyed your "orchids" series (in particular the wilted shots, fascinating) and your "trapped between windows" series. While I can understand why the Elves chose the single daisy as the photo of the week, a cleaner composition and better example of your idea, I much prefer the 7th photo. All in all, a wonderful portfolio.

Ryan

So very good to hear from you. I had wondered what was up when I never heard back from my mail, then I remembered that this was your busy time of year. Are all six of these beauties yours ? I also noted yesterday that you have been busy and have some new work up. I will have to find time to get over and chat about them.

Benjamin Rajak , November 12, 2007; 10:06 A.M.

Thanks for the comment

Hey Gordon.. Thank you for your comment.. i appreciate it.. yes i added a bit of warming filter in PS. I guess it worked like i wanted to.. you noticed!! :)

Roger Sonneland , November 12, 2007; 04:06 P.M.

Gordon, gives me much pleasure to be back in contact with you, I think perhaps one of our email providers failed us. I only ever received the one email from you which I sent two replies to and never heard from you again. I thought I perhaps had offended you in some way. I am sort of busy as Jude is in Auckland for a couple of weeks at the Ellerslie garden show. Is the biggest garden show in the Southern hemisphere. We have spent the past month filling a container of most of our products. We shipped it up last week, and Jude went up a couple of days a go. That leaves me plus a woofer tending our b&b, this time of year we always get a few of the people returning from the South pole as guests. There is never more than 54 people winter over, and I always love hearing the stories of what happens during 9 months in total isolation. You have been a busy chap since I was last here some very nice work indeed. Just love your dog images. The labs in the image are all Ngaio bay dogs, the ridgeback is just a friend. Yes it gives me very much pleasure to be back in contact with you. All the best..........roger

I hope this is in tribute to you....but you'll have to tell me. If I've got it, it's with thanks to you.

Gordon Bowbrick , November 12, 2007; 10:32 P.M.

Roger

If memory serves and goodness knows it is not what it used to be, you initially had some troubles with sending me mail. I believe that after that I gave you both of my e-mail addresses and you posted some rather sombre and beautiful photos of your dogs burial to both of my addresses and both got through fine. I responded to that mail and never heard back. Perhaps this is the point were the mail failed us again as I am do not believe I received a reply to my last mail. At any rate yes it is great to be back in touch and if this ever happens again I will just keep re-posting until I get a response and if you do the same maybe we will not run up against the same problem twice.

Lovely dogs Roger, as nice as the Ridgeback is, it sure stands out as not being a member of the extended family of labs you have there. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for those stories about 9 months in Antarctica :) that would certainly test your metal. I'm so pleased to be back in touch and to know it was my mails failure to arrive rather than its content that kept you from responding.I will get a note off to you in the next few days. At the moment my water line is leaking underground and although I've run a new one above ground I am at the mercy of a local contractor to have it dug up so I can get the new one buried before the ground freezes which is a rapidly approaching reality in this hemisphere.

Gordon Bowbrick , November 12, 2007; 10:38 P.M.

Rachel

What a wonderful image and I am so heart warmed that you would choose to dedicate it to me, but this one is all you :)

Roger Sonneland , November 14, 2007; 12:20 A.M.

Gordon makes me feel very good to be back in contact with you, shall also send you a email in the next day or two. Yes the Ridgeback does look the odd one out, it is a very lovely dog but just a visitor to Ngaio bay. I am really amazed at all the new work I have found in you portfolio, you have been a busy boy. We have two more guests coming from the pole tonight, they were suppose to come two nights a go but got weathered in. Yes they do have some funny stories of what goes on down there. it can become a very romantic place also. One of the rituals is when it gets 100 below zero, they have a club forgot the name right now but to be a member, you hop in the sauna get hot than run out and stand by the pole that marks the exact spot where the pole is with nothing but your boots on, and have your picture taken. The first plane to arrive this spring brought some lettuce and salad food, there was a garden fly in it, everyone got so excited at seeing the first thing alive for 9 months they put it in a jar for everyone to enjoy. I can see you getting ready for the winter, you would have all your firewood done long a go. I used to live in a fairly cold climate but now and for the last 30 years have not even seen a frost. All the best my friend..........roger

Matt Laur , November 15, 2007; 09:32 A.M.

Delightful work, Gordon. Your obvious concentration on getting most of what you want in-camera is a very apparent. That degree of thoughtfulness is quite inspiring, I must say. Love the manatee.

Sherle Curtice , November 20, 2007; 08:00 P.M.

Hi Gordon

I left a comment for you on your critique of "Light Paths." I'm not sure it will be much help to you though. When I photograph this stuff I let myself go just a bit and don't really worry about the details. If I don't my work starts to look as formal as my more serious work and when I shoot like this I want it to feel like play. I find that my mind is stimulated with lots of unusual and creative thoughts when I "play."

J.P. Pfister , November 24, 2007; 12:50 A.M.

No Britney, fastfood, or cellphone camera

I had to check out your work after that comment, as I'm a chef, music lover, and photographer, that really painted a picture of horror...very funny. After looking over your portfolio I was blown away by your art/photos, very stylish and original. Regards, - JP

All the best of the season to you all and the best of everything in the coming year!!

Roger Gauthier , January 05, 2008; 07:32 P.M.

Hello Gordon,

This is my first serious look at your work. I must say that I am very impressed. As far as I am concerned, the vast majority of your pictures are simply remarkable. I will come back and discuss in much more detail which one I think are the most impressive and why. I will also point some weak points in some pictures IMHO. Not many, but then... Isn't why we ask for comments?

For the moment, here is a personal opinion about "Spring Landscape With Poplar Sapling". I had commented on that picture and later chose to delete the comment. Quite frankly, this picture has a weakness and I think that you know it. Nothing that could not be fixed, but for the moment I feel that it is not as good as the rest of your work which is as a whole way way better.

Is it permitted to say so? The reason why I chose to delete my comment is simple: it seems to be the norm to praise without restraint each and every picture. How can that be? I felt that my comment was out of place.

You know, I look at many of my own pictures and tell myself, mamma mia, they're not great, they just look ordinary to me. Many have flaws, sometimes bad flaws, that I try to correct over the time. But how can I get any help if all my pictures are always considered perfect? The consequence of all this is that I often feel out of place when I study a picture in detail and try to come up with a detailed, constructive comment. Not a destructive or negative, but a constructive comment.

OK, I think that I am rambling. But the fact remains that few will do us the service of a balanced analysis. In such cases, I will steer clear, and send you my comments either here or by email.

Stay tuned, I want to comment some truly astonishing pictures you did.

Cheers, whether with Ontarian or Quebec beer, my friend!

RogerG

Gordon Bowbrick , January 06, 2008; 09:56 A.M.

Roger

The stuff I miss when I am away from home for a day! Your comment was most welcome and I am saddened that you decided to remove it. I only had a chance to glance over your efforts before leaving home and I returned to find your comment deleted. I put my work up at PN to hopefully get honest and useful critique. Praise can be useful if it comes with comment as to how the image may have earned that praise. If it is only to say "Wow Nice shot" it does not communicate very much that I can work with. That being said, I would not want to discourage someone from leaving a short comment to say they liked an image. I do that myself on occasion. What I value more than anything else is careful constructive critique. This is what I try to offer to others and it is what I hope for in return.

Roger I agree 100% with your feeling about critique style and the entire point of critique, so PLEASE feel free to offer your opinion of what does or does NOT work to your eye when you look at any of my photos. When you take the time to look at my images and point out the flaws you are doing me a big favour and I am thankful that you would be generous enough to take the time to do so. I am honestly not looking for sugar coated compliments I am looking to learn and become a better photographer.

Alex Milarakis , January 08, 2008; 04:38 A.M.

Very beautiful portofolio with a variety of excellent photos. Especially I like ther music photos. Congrats !

Russell Lewis , January 14, 2008; 12:32 P.M.

This is like a fully-loaded 'Lucky Dip' - anyone who can't find at least one thing they like in this collection needs to look again!

There really are some great shots in here and they cover a fantastic range - I'll have to spend a lot more time looking around your portfolio Gordon, so don't worry if you hear any strange noises while you're working...

Gordon Bowbrick , January 15, 2008; 06:29 A.M.

Alex

Thanks for your comment. Music is close to my heart and I am glad that these are some of your favourites.

Thanks for stopping by and giving my stuff a browse. If nothing else it is eclectic. If you ever did find the time and inclination to return it would be an honour. Please feel free to offer any suggestions or tips for improvement should you be back in the neighbourhood, as they would be greatly appreciated. When I hear someone thumbing through the pages or squeaking their chair, I will remain at ease knowing that it is only the sounds of Russell paying a return visit.

I've been blundering about in your portfolio ( that was me making all that noise and upsetting the other patrons ) and I am in awe of your vision as well as your skill and patience in bringing your visions to life. I keep returning to further study and decipher what remains quite mysterious to me.

Jeanne S. , January 17, 2008; 08:39 P.M.

Gordon, You have some fascinating creative photographs. When I first saw the number of photographs you have, I thought I would probably get bored in your gallery, I didn't, at all. I'll definitely be back for seconds. Bravo on an entertaining beautiful portfolio! Peace, Jeanne

Rachel Ann Foster , January 20, 2008; 06:40 P.M.

Gordon....

Every time I visit your portfolio, I am newly humbled. Damn, you're good!

Gordon Bowbrick , January 21, 2008; 10:55 A.M.

Jeanne

Thank you for the lovely compliments. I am pleased that you did not become bored :)

Gordon Bowbrick , January 21, 2008; 10:58 A.M.

Rachel

I continue to be honoured that you return. I was just over at your portfolio today and each time I visit I see your vision and your result merging closer together. Remember what I told you about that eye of yours and where it will take you.

Matthew Loeber , January 27, 2008; 11:43 P.M.

Hey Gordon

Thanks for the comments as of late!! I'm going to dig up some more portraits for you to check out because your comments are always smart and well thought out and your vision is open and free and i trust your opinions. I love your most recent stuffn especially "Around the Yard" and "Foxtrot" is Stunnindg and Stark and Soft and Colorful in a lovely Muted way, if that makes any sense in a muted way, i just mean the color is vibrant yet subtle! Anyway i've really have been enjoying your input as of late and Always, Matthew.

Gordon Bowbrick , January 28, 2008; 07:36 A.M.

Mattew

I'd love to see more portraits. I am always glad to find your comments on my work because I have the deepest respect for your vision and your thoughts. Thanks for dropping by and keeping in touch.

BTW some of my recent attempts to capture snowy days in my home town are in large part inspired by the feeling you achieve with your images of urban winter cityscapes. I have always loved those row house and canal scenes.

Louis Meluso , February 04, 2008; 10:44 A.M.

The Joy of Life

Gordon: Your images are infused with the joy of photography and the joy of life. I like your visual curiosity. The motion studies and the dogs photos are terrific. Lou

Dennis Aubrey , February 13, 2008; 10:07 A.M.

Gordon, glad to have found your work ...

... after your kind comment on my Fontenay abbey B&W. I am particularly taken with your abstract, motion, frost, and driveby folders, really your in-camera effects shots. In particular, the busy Christmas barn and Crimson Cross are stunning. They remind me of lithos for microelectronic circuits with all the "leads" heading toward the processor. I particularly like how you are moving in your own direction - learning as you go, but guided by some interior compass. That makes your work original, and therefore always interesting. Congratulations, I'll be back.

Kevin Horsman , February 20, 2008; 02:26 P.M.

Wonderful work

I do not feel worthy of critiqueing.... Truly inspirational and original. Your a great photographer. Thank you!!

Sally Delacruz , February 23, 2008; 07:25 P.M.

Hello... I enjoyed viewing your portfolios. I like very much your abstract collections, the dogs and your flowers and especially the butterfly series, from the caterpillar to a beautiful Butterfly.

Thank you for sharing,sally

Jeanne Hauschild , February 26, 2008; 11:17 A.M.

Gordon.....when you left a comment on one of my photos I took the opportunity to visit your work. WOW! I'm left pretty much speechless ( though I did leave comments on a few until I realized I'd be here all day! )! You are a master of motion! The dog folder is a favorite, but all of your work is inspiring. I will be coming back often to look at a more leisurely pace. Thanks for a pleasant spot in my day!

Alberta P. , February 28, 2008; 07:16 P.M.

Wow, Gordon -

This portfolio just gets better and better in all its magnificent diversity. With every Gordon post, you bring a little joy to my day (although I don't leave comments every time. I run out of original/witty/insightful things to say and sometimes you just leave me speechless). Thank you for sharing your gift -

Tim Holte , March 03, 2008; 10:38 P.M.

Your dog shots are killing me Gordon! The one you just posted in N/W today is a doozer and looks like a brother of one of my mutts. I love your images and I like your attitude, you love dogs and photography as much as I do.

Mary Corning , March 04, 2008; 11:44 A.M.

hi

I haven't been here for quite a while. I see you just get better and better all the time. As your motion shots are fantastic! Glad I stopped by. Hope all is well up North. Mary

LOVE it!!

Ton Mestrom , March 12, 2008; 05:17 P.M.

Gordon,

long overdue but I finally got here. You know what I think of your work so there is hardly a need to keep on telling you what an original character you are. Although I was a bit surprised by your b&w. Especially that night shot is fantastic. You're down to earth and yet sometimes very funny comments I appreciate a lot. All that and to top it off a new great portrait next to you bio! Wlll keep in touch, BR Ton

Bogdan Gavrus , March 16, 2008; 11:12 A.M.

I've browsed your portfolio after my several months of absence from this site and i was amazed of the way your work has improved, you are a master of the motion studies,i think your work covers much of what a photographer should be..both dedicated to a certain domain or sub-domain and also versatile and continuously exploring new fields..Congratulations my friend, you mange to inspire me and i will return for more.

TM Cleland , March 17, 2008; 07:51 P.M.

I was getting ready to comment on some photos, but just decided that I would be here until the year 2029 by the time I finished.

Seriously amazing body of work. Fresh and innovative, wonderful aesthetics! Can't wait to see more!

Hi

I enjoyed my trip through your fine and expressive gallery.

Matthew Loeber , April 01, 2008; 10:40 P.M.

Hey Gordo

haven't seen your new work lately so i stopped by and checked out your most recent posts. I really love "Jack Pine" and "Foxtrot" very much! Jack Pine really is soothing to me, hypnotic in feel. I also love the shot of the Chevy logo as well. Great colors and grit. Your eye is very free and natural when searching for subject matter and i relate to that very much! Check you later! PS- I know you like music and jazz very much and i just recently saw Pat Metheney at the Keswick Theater, he was playing a trio with Antonio Sanchez and Christian McBride. AWESOME!

Tchavdar Nikolov , April 16, 2008; 04:10 P.M.

Gordon

Thanks Gordon, For me was real pleasure to look at your works. I find there are a lot of good ideas and a lot of positive energy.

Jim Adams , April 19, 2008; 02:09 P.M.

Gordon...

You do not have one single dog photograph in your portfolio that I do not like. Not one. The shot of Darwin and Maggie on the deck in the snow, waving, is priceless. They are so beautiful.

I really like your b&w work.

Best Regards,
Jim Adams

Jan Rachwal , April 27, 2008; 05:30 P.M.

Excellent work!

I wanted to join this list of admirers and say how much I have enjoyed looking at your work, and getting to know you better by seeing your photos. You have a talent that is not taught, but rather felt. Thanks for sharing.

J Kilgo , May 11, 2008; 08:38 A.M.

Your comments in one of the forums attracted me to your portfolio. You have a lot of nice images...very eclectic. I wish there was some way to generate more appreciation for photographic art like that which is represented in your portfolio. Regards.

Hi Gordon,

I came here from the "No Words" forum where you left an image in the "Best picture ever" category... I am blown away, I love that image and I was hoping it was uploaded here so I could comment on it. It took my breath away! Thank you for such a lovely image to feast my eyes on this fine summer evening. .....Sherle

Todd Kowalski , June 30, 2008; 10:02 A.M.

Your work is very intreging. You "drive by shootings" and "studies in motion" are really good. I often have taken shots from the car but with the attempt to "stop " the action, never being very successful. Whereas you have found the secret of just letting go with the action and have come to great results. I think a valuable lesson has just been had here. I need to relax my stiffness at 60 mph and go with the flow!

Thanks for your insightful work Gordon.

Todd

Milena Safrova , July 02, 2008; 03:48 A.M.

It has been a complicated way that has taken me to your portfolio. I am very impressed, your works show how your look at the reality with open eyes and search new approaches and ways to treat it. Capture of movement, unusual flower pictures, details of frost - all of this is very interesting. Best regards Milena

Nancy Barrett , July 21, 2008; 11:52 A.M.

Hi Gordon,

Found you through "No Words: Daisy Daisy" and was blown away by your entry and, in fact, the rest of your portfolio. Fabulous stuff!

Hey Gordo

Hows it going buddy, I am hanging in there after my cat of 20 passed last week. Hey i have about 10 or 12 new shots on my portfolio that i would love to get an opinion on and which ones are your favs. as i have an upcoming show and need some advice on which ones to hang! So check out the ones at the top of my page and let me know what you think, there are 10 or 12 that are new. i really appreciate it!...Matthew

Matthew Loeber , July 31, 2008; 05:10 P.M.

By the way the photo of Darwin Again is very wonderful! Seems like a very regal dog and must be a great companion!

Josh Dunham Wood , September 01, 2008; 07:29 P.M.

Hi Gord

I have been reviewing your work in more depth since you contacted me. Vast territory indeed. When I finally stop scrolling I have a similar feeling to exiting a matinee into the light. I am aware, haunted by the notion that the passer-bys are not privy to my experience and it will take me some time to acclimate back into the usual world i occupy.
I am not certain of the plot of your film but it's not a requirement for myself. I often take enjoyment from created atmosphere, happenstance or intentional. In spite of some of your very fine and refined imagery, the rawness, gentleness and innocence prevails. It would never happen, but if these words were used to describe my work... i would blush.
As i told you, I am drawn to experimentation, something you have in aces. I will be looking forward to see where the road takes you. and beyond. take care, josh

Matthew Loeber , September 10, 2008; 11:35 A.M.

Hey Gordo

I found your portfolio through your posting on my No Words Shorelines thread - Thank you for taking the time to post. That photo you posted, it's the first one in your Georgian Bay (sp?) folder - absolutely stunning!! I enjoyed browsing your portfolio. Looking forward to more!!

Ioan Alexandru Chiru , November 22, 2008; 05:37 A.M.

Hi !

You have a diversified portfolio with nice shots and great colours, congratulations ! Alex.

JDM von Weinberg , December 10, 2008; 06:30 P.M.

Was drawn to your portfolio by the wonderful shot you had on No Words today (theme: Yellow at http://photo.net/no-words-forum/00RkjB).

You don't need me to tell you what a good photographer you are, but I have to tell you I really liked that shot. That's the only flaw with the No Words forum--it doesn't provide an easy or appropriate place to comment on exceptional work.

Liz Weisiger , December 21, 2008; 10:29 P.M.

Gord

I want to wish you a very Happy Holiday. I want to thank you for sharing your time with me as I "struggle" to be a better photographer, and by making the trip a little easier for me by noticing my work and thoughts. You have been - and will continue to be - a great inspiration.

If memory serves me well, the first time I came to your portfolio, was after seeing one of your self portraits; now, many new pictures, and many comments written and read, I find another outstanding self portrait....... Outstanding and funny.

I also want to take this opportunity, to thank you for your comments and visits, through out the year; I wish you the best of christmas, and a challenging, fruitful and joyful 2009!

Cheers!

Terry Mah , January 04, 2009; 02:16 A.M.

"Unreal!"

This is a fearsomely wonderful portfolio! A serious contribution to this site. My favorite parts are the "Between 2 Windows" and the "Hacked Lens Experiments" collections. I also love the fact that you would use your awesome 70-200 F2.8 IS lens while shooting out of a moving car to accomplish amazing blurred impressionistic images, while at the same time many of the other 70-200 IS owners are just shooting test patterns at every aperature to see how sharp their lens is! Love it - thanks for posting your awesome work!

Ian Cox-Leigh , January 06, 2009; 11:25 A.M.

A belated Happy New Year. Yes, we did have several inches of snow over Christmas this year. It is certainly the minority of winters -- among those that I can personally recall -- that we've received more than a skiff of snow on the ground during the December break.

I often wish we had more intensity in Toronto winters -- more frost (we never get frost patterns on windows), more hoarfrost, more snow, more freezing. But, then again, I think I'd rather visit that sort of winter than live in it. P.S. I love your current profile photo. It certainly brought a chuckle.

Raymond Borg , January 25, 2009; 02:27 P.M.

Very nice work. I really like most of your pictures. Well done.

Kevin Freeman , February 25, 2009; 05:19 P.M.

Greetings, Gordon -- ran across your post in one of the silly threads, thought I'd check you out... Very inspiring work to this young (to photography) photographer. I plan on spending some time in your portfolio giving your shots more than just a quick scanl. A lot to be learned here -- thanks for sharing!

Charles Miller , October 02, 2009; 11:45 A.M.

Based on your article, I just visited your site. You indeed do find the pictures with in a picture. I don't necessarily like all of your images, but appreciate what you are trying to do. I also see many common thoughts with my own work and these will serve as an inspiration to look further and try new things. Ithe monarch series should be combined into a single shot, they are great shots. I will mark you as a person of interest because I want to continue coming back. Thank you for your honest and forthcoming insights. They will serve us all very well. - Charles

Hello Gordon!

It's been a couple of months since I last logged on...I bought a house and switched to Mac. Just happened to check in this morning and saw you as October's featured photographer! Just wanted to say congratulations, and thanks for the insight on my very introductory abstract attempts! Hope all is well.
