Tobias Barnett , December 29, 2003; 05:08 P.M.

I have looked through all of your photos, and however tempted I am to rate and comment on them all, it would be pointless as the same ratings and comments would apply for all. Quite simply, incredible.

Brendan Turner , February 01, 2004; 03:39 A.M.

Get an agent, you silly girl...

Natasha,

I did a web search on your name and got...nothing. Why? It is certainly NOT due to the fact that you have the compassionate eye of the great photojouranalists and documentary photographers. Nor, I suppose, is it due to the fact that I spelled your name wrong.

Reuters, Corbis/Sigma, AP, AFP, even Magnum would probably snatch you up in a heartbeat. And believe me when I say this...I have NEVER seen an "amateur" of your skill before in my life.

But I have seen a few pros who might be more on par with you.

You have nothing to lose, don't worry about that...it's the rest of us that risk loss.

PLEASE DON'T STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Natasha Gudermane , February 01, 2004; 09:19 A.M.

Be sure, Brendan, I won't !! :))

I just wonder ... How do silly girls usually get their agents ? Teach me :)

Antonio Baiano , February 03, 2004; 06:35 A.M.

About Fred's photo

Hi Natasha, with regard to your reply on Frederic's photo, I would just add that I am not saying that you're wrong and I am right...the fact is that we look at the photos from two different perspectives, I come from a photojournalistic approach, so I always try to put in my photos somethings carrying the informations and emotions that I want to bring. But my first impact is always-as you suggested me- emotional, then I go to the analisys of the photo as I did for the one we are discussing. And for me the music of that one was missing of some chords... The feeling we receive from a photo, me-you- and the others- is always influenced by our cultural and experience background, so we perceive different emotions from what we see. I would have liked that Fred had explained what he sees or wanted to show with his photo, but that is...what is inportant is that he transmitted some feelings, don't you think so? I would like that you visited this work, and leave your opinion on it, good or bad, so maybe you can better understand my point of view: http://www.photo.net/photodb/presentation?presentation_id=233814 By the way, the movie by Linch is "the straight story". I think it is his best movie!

Brendan Turner , February 04, 2004; 11:41 P.M.

Go Pro

Going pro is a long arduous journey that can go about as slowly as a train moving up a steep hill. As I'm not full-on pro at this time, I can't realy say "how" to get an agent or what path to take. But all of the pros I know say many things that boil down to "Just Get Out There." I'd probably suggest getting in some photo mags to start, try pictured "http://www.picturedinternational.com" they have a feature section for underexposed photographers. Then there's always regional culture mags that take submisssions/give assignments in North America I could see your colour dreams stuff in Vice. First off, put together a portfolio of no more than your Top Ten photos that meet the requirements and look of the publication you're trying to get into and set-up an apointment with the photo/art director to have it viewed. It'll probably kill you at first, but hang in there. The industry is not for the faint of heart. Most mags have contact info on their web-sites or in the masthead of the mag.

It'll take a while to get a rep, and different reps will ask that you've been printed different numbers of times...or not at all. Depending on what type of stuff you're into. I think your strongest stuff is in the Doc and Alt fashion/culture genres. But unless you can get a job as a staffer at a daily paper, Doc is probably about the hardest thing to do on earth. The market is hyper-saturated and has no real turnover at all. Generally, I'd find a mag that you'd like to get into and pull together ten shots that you could HONESTLY see being printed as high profile images in that mag and then send them in. You don't need an agent or to have been published before in a lot of cases. hope this helps

WOW, i've just browsed through an enormous amount of your photographies. i'm really impressed by the big amazing portfolio of yours. great works everywhere. i adore them, b&w is so powerfull in your pictures.

as to your comment on xrayeyish3 i wasnt under influence of bayers picture, i remeber seeing it only once before, very long time ago. to be honest i was inspired by someone else, but with totally, totally different execution. Frankly, bayers picture doesnt seem to me being anyhow similar to my work.

thanks so much for the honest comment.

Ed Swinden , June 17, 2005; 04:50 A.M.

Fabulous work. Thoughtful and well-composed. I thought I'd follow the link from your comment on my photo just to see what your views were based on, and I'm so glad I did. I shall mark you interesting so I can come back and look at your work more carefully later. On first glance at your Top Photos (sometimes I find the best stuff isn't in this section, so I'm looking forward to seeing the full folder when I get time) I particularly like 'Split' and 'A Work of Art'. Your 'Colour Half Dreams' appeal too - but I haven't looked at them 'full size' yet. Best wishes.

Dear Natasha Gudermane,

I am extremely impressed with this portfolio. About a year ago I wrote in Leica Photo Forum that you forte was the studio. I was not impressed with your street photography at that time.

I must take the latter judgement back. Your street photography is outstanding.

There is a wonderfully lucid spontaneity in your work. It the best work--and I'll be coming back to visit and to rate more--this spontaneity and lucidness is extra special.

Thank you for visiting my portfolio and your comment on my running lady in Paris. The best thing is that it made me revisit your portfolio.

Otliichno!

the red and the blue

excuse me Natasha 4 my bad English...so i will write 2 you in french, to express with more acquity my feelings about your beautiful work. When i saw you for the very firts time, you were dressed in white, and little red spots on your dress, and your deeply blue eyes were something beyond that...a kind of water that was emerging of your darked hair. The snowfall' m'a laiss頳ans voix.

A qui le vous, sans ces 魯is ? C?est 駡l que je me noie sans vous, c?est sans 駡l que je me voie sans vous?

Hi

First time I saw your work was in the Czech photo-magazine PhotoArt, especially the work, I think it was titled something like Happy Bride. Your sense of composition and tones is respectable, but what strikes me the most is the sense of how you communicate with the viewer by daring direct contact with the camera. In brief - loved looking at your phots. My best regards and sincere respect for your work.

really nice pictures but i guess it could be better

Really nice pictures but i guess some of them required color instead of black and white, specially the ones with a blue sky with clouds, or the ones with a beach.

Best regards and congratulations
