Hmm. Another entry in the "sea of sunflowers beneath Armageddon-like sky" category. This looks too much like a stock photo used in one of those framed motivational posters. It's pretty, though.

Give him a break, Joseph
For someone who can be a bit harsh on photographs, I have not seen anything better coming from your work. However, I do agree its a very pretty shot.Colors are very nice and saturating. Velvia at its best.
Quan --- , February 24, 2001; 10:51 P.M.
To me, this photo is very good in many ways.
However, I am wondering about the upper part of the sky looks dark (on my laptop sceen), compared to flowers and the field which gave me some sense of not quite natural. I understand what I'm saying may be subjective.
Congrats.

Even sunflowers dream of nuclear war.
Henry Mann , March 01, 2001; 11:25 P.M.
Very nice. Well composed with two Sun flowers on the left edge to balance the hill on the horizon on the right. Didn't check it but it seems the classical division of 1/3rd sky 2/3rd earth.

Quite unreal - lovely. The colors clash a bit, tho.
Roberto Lins , April 02, 2001; 10:48 A.M.
Nice contrasty and saturated image. I must confess that I kind of like the sureal colors. When I saw it, I inquired myself Velvia + what?! Well done.
Michael Johnson , April 04, 2001; 08:35 P.M.
I love it! The colours are super. It is a little surreal but it's a great shot. I think the first comment a little harsh.

Welcome on Earth
Hi Joseph. You know we`ve got hier on Earth some "seas of sunflowers" and "Armageddon-like skies" - sorry. The Nature itself is not kitschy - only the people feel it sometimes kitschy. Maybe we are kitschy, not the Nature. Anyway - what do you mean by this: "...too much like a stock photo..."? Is it stock photography worse kind of photography? I don`t think so. Andreas Babik.

Dark or too dark
Hello Quan, the upper part of the sky looks dark weil I must used a graduated ND filter. The sky (near horizont) would be too bright (white) without this filter. It was necessary. A.B.

I like it
Perhaps this photo is not the most 'original' photo but I don't think that should detract from it. Its a lovely shot and I think many of us would very much enjoy having a photo like this in our collection.
I think making truly original photos is easier said than done, especially if you've seen a lot of photos already. However, just because its been done doesn't mean it can'be be done better or by you.
T. Hopkins , May 25, 2001; 12:39 A.M.
I like the photo, although colors are a bit to un-natural for me. But, it is still a very nice photo. I like the composition.

this is incredible. as all of Andreas work
Orvar Torpeden , June 16, 2001; 09:50 A.M.
The picture looks like it has been faked in a way. It does not look natural, eventhough it might be.
Neil Beddoe , July 03, 2001; 10:46 A.M.
Of course it looks fake - that's why it's so good.
The filter manipulation in this picture has been well executed and suits the subject perfectly. It certainly beats sticking a red ball in the foreground.
Philip Harle , July 13, 2001; 05:35 A.M.
I have to say I absolutely hate it. I find it quite painful to look at. Sorry!
Terry Palka , July 14, 2001; 03:54 P.M.
this is absolutly amazing. the colors are so vivid and beautiful. wow.
Keith Jorgensen , July 20, 2001; 11:26 A.M.
Sky's the limit
Color of sky conflicts with flowers. The composition is nice and it is technically fine but the impact is only that the sky is unnaturally orange. Without the sky color no center of interest exists.
Anders Nilsson , August 08, 2001; 11:54 A.M.
Beautifully sick
This looks as if was somewhere out in space, some other planet! An acidtrip into yourself might be another explanition. Like this one very much!

Great filter
I like the composition and the use of filters on this one, the photo seems unreal but yet, nice to observe
Geoff Eldridge , August 21, 2001; 11:52 P.M.
strong colours ..
Have enjoyed your folder, technique and individual style .. great colours!!
rucookies tk , August 22, 2001; 07:30 P.M.
Nice job - hard to believe it's a straight shot with camera/film/etc instead of computer rework - there's lots of excellent photography on photo.net and this still stands out - unique.

The Drama is too Thick
In an effort to make a dramatic photo, you've overdone yourself. Call it the "Pearl Harbor" effect: it's over-the-top with the mood of apocalypse. I just can't get into the mix of beauty and blood-red skies.
I also have a hard time with overly-digitised photos. Okay, this an old and unending argument, digital vs. traditional, but I find that pictures which are so overtly digitised just can't hold MY attention.
The sunflowers are lovely on their own and they deserve high praise to you as the photographer.

Stunning Work!
Most of the comments above seem to miss the simple point of this photograph... It contrasts peace and tranquility against an angry sky of war and destruction...just like life. It is both soothing and foreboding, and that's a feeling that is hard to invoke well. I loved it!

Nice image, and nice folder overall, as well. Your work is consistently appealing. Thank you for posting these. Viva la Velvia!

I love this image and by the way I like most of your work very much! You have a very individual style that is unique to you. I think I'm beginning to know your work when I see it. Yes, this is way colorful and a combo perhaps of the ND filter and a hair of punch up in the scan settings. But - that is what I like about your work -- so vibrant and unlike some -- I actually occassionally see these colors around me in life. I just have to be paying attention when the conditions create amazing lighting and color around me. You have captured just that. Well done.

WOW.....
All I can say is this is one amazing shot! It looks like something you can only imagine, but could never exist. Great job.

Does this have split filter on it? I like it.
Detlef Klahm , February 22, 2002; 01:43 A.M.
I usually don`t read what other people write before I make my comment...so I ignore some of the ones I read now...This is another great scenic shot...not as suttle in colour as some may like, but I find this trademark of your punchy images works here as well.

Agree with Steven Worthy
Steven is absolutely right,--one critic can't seem to produce anything this fine but puts it down. I think it looks great!
