Great shot!
But how did you prevent getting a nose print on the lens ;-) With a 15 mm, you were what, maybe a couple of inches from the pooch?

Distance from Pooch
that's about right -- when using the 15mm, I was about two inches away, which is why he turned his head to the side. I had my flash on and tilted all the way down in order to fill the shadows from the overhead sun. Because of the vertical orientation, one has to be conscientious about which side of the camera the flash will burst. In this case, the inside of his mouth turned out to be well lit without looking "flashed". (Do this by setting your flash burst to underexpose by 1 stop. Only do this for FILL flash -- when your flash is your main light source, don't do this. Also, cover your flash with an 81A or 81B gel to keep the flash's "blue"ness from discoloring the natural look of the picture.)

I enjoyed the entire Sammy expose, especially the picture of him sleeping behind the rose. Great work and wonderful subject!

Another fine one for your collection. I love the picture, excellent exposure, very Chip Simons-like but without the flash gels.

great!
The dogs expression is so perfect that the pic seems more like a painting!!

Great shot.. I love it. I just got my 15mm 2.8 fisheye a few minutes ago and can't wait to go shoot with it.

Great shot! I followed the link to the rest of your site and wow, you've got quite an eye. But I especially liked the Sammy series.

Aesthetics 8, Originality 9
Really great use of fill-flash, DOF and super-wide angle lens. This photo has the appearance of a cartoon illustration, which makes for a really humorous image. The only improvement I could suggest would be the washed-out sky to the right -- but I am sure that it is probably impossible under the lighting conditions.

I can only reiterate Carl's comment about the sky (I have experienced the same prob). Regardless, this is a caricature (or however you spell it) far beyond the best of the best that I've seen.

Every time I stumble on this it evokes a chortle - and that's a good thing

This is an awesome photo. I like any picture that makes me feel an emotion - and this one definitely makes me laugh.

Great! Now there goes the rest of the lunch hour. Must check out the rest of the P. Like the perspective, gives me a few ideas to try. Great background, Is that the backyard?

yawn...how boring!
You can almost hear your dog thinking that. I love how the picture so amusingly captures the feeling that your dog is bored. Very cool effect with the fisheye lens to exaggerate his face. Very funny!

Hilarious! And so well composed. Even the colours look great. Love it!! I took a look at your homepage and I must say that I'm very impressed by your pictures there. I'll be visiting again soon!!

This is very good considering the time you had to catch it. Then I don't mind the blown sky!
